for folks who had their X1 for 6 or 7 years, how much was routine maintenance so far?
question for folks who had their X1 for 6 or 7 years, how much money have you spent on routine maintenance and wear & tear items so far?
I have the current X1(U11) and just want to get a ball park figure on such costs. I figured that it would be easier to get more realistic feedback from current X1(F48) owners. I will most likely drive less than 5,000 miles per year. My guess is that I'll put on about 40,000 miles by the time my X1 reaches 7 years.(2030?) Thank you in advance for all replies. |

2018 owner here since new. Vehicle now has 66K miles.
Other than oil changes, air filter, cabin filter, brake fluid as scheduled services. We've put new tires on it (even with a set of winters getting swapped the first few years). New brakes pads front and rear. Most recently engine oil filter housing which is plastic with an aluminum cooler, which is common. If yours still uses this I would pro-actively replace this as soon as your warranty runs out with the full aluminum housing one. Overall we are very happy with the X1 and wish they would have brought this over in full electric. |

We have a 2016 and almost the same story. Oil changes, one brake set change front and back. I had one fuel evap solenoid die on me, but I diagnosed and found it myself and bought the part right at the dealer for like $90. So basically zero failures and no real maintenance.

2016 X1 here. The only maintenance costs I've incurred out of pocket are oil changes, filter changes, brake fluid changes, brake pads and rotors, and tires. The car did have the front end suspension creak issue and a dead LED strip in one of the taillights very shorty after purchase, but both were taken care of under warranty. I've had no issues with the car since the original warranty expired.
My wife drives a 2018 X2 xDrive28i and there have been zero issues at all on her car other than the same maintenance items as the X1 above. Both are now out of warranty and we're completely comfortable keeping these cars and servicing them as they've been trouble-free. I really think BMW hit it out of the park with this platform from our experience. |

Only competition electric wise for the X1 (in electric) would be the Ionic 5. We went to check that out cause of the introduction of the 5N. All I can say is BMW is heading in the wrong direction for someone like me. |

2016 here, closing in on 140k miles. No commuting, a lot of road trips.
Oil changes every 5k Differentials and trans oil twice Plugs twice Air filters Coolant flush once New 19" tires once, then now running 17" off road tires Two sets of brake pads (akebono), one set of zimmerman rotors Fuel tank sensor and diff sensor, new gas cap I have an indie in town I work with for easy stuff. More advanced things I go to the dealer tech I know. I don't really have a total. A few hundred here and there. |

The shifters in these cars have a spring that breaks and this causes the shifter to not sense that the transmission is in PARK. You get an error message that says secure the car from moving or something like that. Common problem and there is at least one thread on this forum that discusses it. Do a search and you will find it easily. DIYers have taken apart the shifter and replaced the spring but dealers and independents won't do that. They only replace the shifter which costs about $700. 3-4 hrs of labor needed.
