Wheel Bolt Pattern

Does the current X1 have the old 5 x 120 mm/72.6 mm bolt pattern, or the new 5 x 112mm/66mm bolt pattern? It's still on the F platform, so I thought it might be possible that it still has the old bolt pattern. A factor in deciding between X3 and X1 as I have a set of "go flat" 18" wheels/tires in the old pattern.

It has the new pattern so you can't re-use those rims

Appreciate that. The fallback is wheel adapters. It appears that the offset for the X1 wheels is 51mm for the 18", and my F10 528 18" wheels have an offset of 30mm. That leaves enough room for a set of 1" thick adapters (available on e-Bay) giving the effect of 5mm wheel spacers.

True, but just be aware that the use of non-OEM wheel spacers can be illegal in some jurisdictions (it is in Australia; I can't speak about where you are, obviously) . The kicker, if that is the case, is that your insurance company might void your insurance policy ...and they'll only do that when they inspect your car after an accident...and tell you that they will not pay any claims!

True that for Australia. Lived there for 10 years and there is a marked difference in the degree of protections for consumers there v. USA. I remember purchasing a shoddy 12v camping refrigerator and was unable to post a critical review because of publisher's fear of a libel suit. I was told that "truth is not a defense".

Hmmm...I think your issue may have been with a publisher who didn't brook any criticism of an advertiser. In my legally-trained but non-practising experience, "truth" is a central defence to our libel laws; I've certainly written (and had published) very critical product reviews. That said, some of our legislation especially on motor vehicle safety is very backward, and our insurance market is dominated by a few large players
