Door Puddle lights

Hi Guys has any one retrofitted the door puddle lights, I have a 2018 x20D m sport it has the wiring in the door for them but when I fitted the light fitting it did not work. The car has not got the extended light package but has the ambient light package but not all of the options are fitted but again the wiring is there in the door and on the passenger side of the dash and they all work all I need is to get the parts for them.Is it a matter of coding or do you think the wiring is not in the main wiring loom?

In order to see if the two wires are connected (I think it should be), take a voltage measuring instrument and check if you have tension there. If it is, then something is wrong with the lights you bought. If it is not, then that part of circuit is not connected.

Did you take the door card off to check for the wiring? I've not got them either and would be interested if hey can be retrofitted

Thanks for the replys
The wiring is in the door as I did remove the door card
There was no voltage when checked with a voltmeter so I thought it might only work if the circuit could see the led fitting
As I said the other ambient lighting cables are there and do work when I connect the led .

Yes, you should take the door card off

In this case I don't know if the can be retrofitted very easy.
You should speak with a local dealer / service.

In this case I think they are not connected to the BDC, or the function is not activated.
The courtesy lights are a part of the central locking system.
You can find the wiring diagrams in the online TIS here: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...tem/1VnXPUQ7jC

Maybe this could help you...

Thanks Stefanj
I have had a look at the diagrams and description and it looks like the BDC is coded to the car and since mine has not had the extended light package fitted I don't think it can be retrofitted.

Everything in these cars is software driven. So are the lights. I found someone near my house that has a laptop with the ODBII connector and the software, plus he knows his software and has done numerous Bimmers. The answer is yes. But get check list because like a menu from a restaurant, there are numerous things that you can add besides just lighting. LED's, Etc.
