Mud Flaps
Been told by Dealer they are not available. I have seen threads on here but still confused. Are they available as a genuine accessory? Is the reason they may not be because they are not needed? Anyone running without them and feel they are not required?
Have seen them on BMW Ebay shop but Dealer would not approve or fit them I guess. Thanks in anticipation. |

In my opinion they are required, especially for the rear. I was going to make custom ones as I have in the past but the place order my material from was out of stock so i dropped the project since we are into spring. Come fall ill try to reorder and make them.
They become more of a necessity after lowering the vehicle and changing the offset of the wheels. |

Personally, I used these, fits perfectly. I guess it was copy and paste from the originals.

I had BMW mud flaps by the dealer fitted ready for when I collected the car.
https://bimmercat.com/bmw/EN/search/...47/ECE/03_3685 Try a different dealer if the current one is being silly, or speak directly to the parts staff. |

However, you can still fit the mud flaps on it. The front fits perfectly. The back fits, but has ~1/4" gap between it and the underside body. U would only noticed it if you bend down and look for it. I have it on my M-Sport X1, and it does help to minimize the small rocks and road sprays onto the sills and rear area of the bumper. Especially, since I have 15mm spacers on my 18" rims. |

Don't touch the so called "genuine" flaps from eBay they are cheap foreign poor copies which come without the fitting kit. I bought a set and had to request to the seller for the missing kit without success. Some weeks later after reporting it to eBay I suddenly got a full refund, but I note the seller is still marketing them, beware.

Does anyone have a picture of an X1 with mud flaps fitted? Since the car is already plastic clad on the bottom, how much more would this protect the car?

Bought mine from Germany last May but never fitted them since the local dealer asked for 60 euros and all my buddies at the X1 Greek Club have talked me against fitting them. Therefore they still stand sealed in their boxes. Wish I could sell them.

I just ordered set of OEM front + rear mud flaps through ECS Tuning (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...82162365719kt/). The part #s individually are: (1) 82 16 2 365 719 (front), and (2) 82 16 2 365 720 (rear). The OEM ones are pricey, whether through dealer or ECS, compared to third party versions available on Amazon, eBay, Aliexpress, etc. But, I rather spend the extra money for factory fit peace of mind.
Couple folks on the forums have installed them on the non-M Sport versions. Shoutout to Bluezed for posting up pics and a PDF of the BMW installation instructions (thread here: https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...4#post19234234). I'll be referring to his post for my own install. Hopefully will be able to put them on in the next week or two. Will post up pics once I get them on. |

I've had a set on my M sport for 18 months or so BMW OEM doesnt' make a set for M sport model..so I went Ebay...they fit fine...had to drill only one hole the rest lined up with the pop rivets that fit the wheel surrounds..just drilled out core and put screw in it's place. Fronts fit contours exactly..rears had a bit less than 1/4' gap along part of bottom..unless you're lying under the vehicle..not noticeable. What is noticeable is the reduction in winter road crap deposits behind the wheels!
Time will tell if they live for years and years...but way less than OEM's and fit fine...so I can just throw on another set in a few years.... |
