Fronts fit contours exactly..rears had a bit less than 1/4' gap along part of bottom..unless you're lying under the vehicle..not noticeable. What is noticeable is the reduction in winter road crap deposits behind the wheels!
Time will tell if they live for years and years...but way less than OEM's and fit fine...so I can just throw on another set in a few years....
Did the same on my M sport, filled the gaps on the rear one with black silicon , looks perfect now

Flaps installed all around! Pics and BMW installation instructions for the exact OEM kit are attached (the instructions from Bluezed's post was for a different part # I believe as the hardware was not exactly the same as the one I received). Prior DIY instructions are available on the site so I won't write my own step-by-step, but I'll add a few tips from my experience:

1. Use PLASTIC panel trim removal tools! Although it's in the wheel well and installed flaps will likely cover up any marred plastic, it just gives peace of mind that you didn't damage your car unnecessarily. I marred up the area around a non-reusable panel clip by using a metal trim removal tool. It's completely covered up, but annoying as it was 100% avoidable if I used a plastic tool instead.

2. For the rear flaps, the little plastic insert was a bit tricky to orient correctly. I've attached 2 pictures on how the C clip and screw should look once installed: (a) on the flap part, and (b) on the car with a view from the bottom upwards.

3. For front flaps, remove the wheel for ease of installation. I didn't want to go through the hassle of raising the car on jack stands and removing the wheel, but it makes life much easier if you do. There are 2 holes that need to be drilled into the plastic wheel liner, and the inner most one is a PITA to do even with the wheel turned all the way.

4. Clean the surface thoroughly. Remove any road grime, dirt, grease, etc. from any surface where the flap meets the car.

Good luck to any folks that decide to tackle this project.

Picking up our X1 today and asked the dealer for an installed price on the mud flaps. Their answer: $504 plus tax! The parts themselves retail for $196 in Canada and they quoted two hours' labour to install. Holy smokes. I am not at all handy but given the instructions in this forum even I feel like I could accomplish it in less time than that!

This is definitely DIY possible. Even if you want to let dealer do it, 2 hours is DOUBLE the BMW suggested book time (30 mins per axle). This should be a 1 hour job at dealer unless they run into issues with install.

Right. I have a feeling someone just took a wild guess at the time required without checking the book. To save $300+ I'll probably have a go at installing them. Thanks for the encouragement!

Yes! You should definitely do this on your own. Not hard at all. You will need to drill a couple new holes and tap out out one of the snaps for each of the 4 corners.
