Handbrake
Can someone give me a heads up on how the handbrake applies on the X1. I am used to Autohold on my Tiguan and the auto release of the handbrake. Thanks.

No Autohold, however, it does auto-release.
Belt in, start the engine and start driving, it'll release by itself but it won't auto hold if you brake, you're gonna have to pull it up manually. Which sucks! I've been trying to look for a way to code it in but nothing yet. |

Yup! I mean there's the auto start/stop but I coded that off. There's an auto-hold thread on here that shows that BMW has the lights for it on the dashboard but only 1 person has been able to activate it and he has stopped replying. So, we don't know if its implemented and they just removed the button or its not available at all and its just the lights that are there.

I don't think that having the lights on the dashboard is a valid marker. I guess BMW makes only one dashboard and puts it on all vehicles, regardless of options. I have the lights for lane keep assist on my dashboard, without having the actual option/sensors for it.

I assume the rear callipers have electric motors to apply handbrake like my Tiguan. The ABS pump then is not used for Autohold.
