Cornering light fitted but not for cornering

Got the 552 Option Adaptive LED headlight option which allows me to use the high beam assist, turning them partially on and off as necessary.

I don’t have the 5A4 option however I do have the cornering light which the 5A4 option would have given me. It comes on when lights turn on in ‘auto’ but not when lights are turned ‘on’ manually sing switch as shown in the 2 side by side photos. It doesn't do anything if i go to full lock either way.
I don’t see anything with goes on / off with cornering when driving.

Is it just the case that this is fitted but not used for cornering as it appears or does the fact that it is fitted mean it should come on for cornering?

Thanks

Mine only works at slower speed. I guess up to about 40 km/hr. That’s what I have noticed. I haven’t looked in the manual about it though.

The cornering lights and the active bending lights (that's what Volvo calls them I'm not sure what they're called in BMW land) only operate when the light switch is turned to auto. Strange, yes I know. My M3 is the same way.

But mine turn on and stay on in auto. They are in no way linked to speed, cornering or whether i am use the turn indicator.

In other words, they are just lights and nothing else.

Mine is a pre lci and I realized that the cornering lights both turned brighter when I’m reversing. Weird

This is a feature, I have seen this somewhere in the codes of one the ECUs. They always turn on when reverse

The cornering lights also turn on when in Auto & driving at city speeds til about 50kmh and using either the blinkers and/or the steering wheel Angle.

I coded mine to go on on high beam aswell, together with foglights. So highbeam is all output available
