HU replaced - BMW Map subscription no longer works

Hi,

Got my Dec 2019 X1 and found no Apple Carplay. After hours of reading and realising I had no HU wifi connector, I paid for an excellent specialist to fit a replacement HU with wifi and now Apple carplay works seamlessly.

Prior to this, I had a paid BMW subscription for map updates and have now found that this no longer works as the replacement HU has a Europe NBTevo_Y map and my previous HU had GB, IE 2023. I did try before realising they were different maps, but the update would not start when i inserted the USB stick.

It's an ID6.

Just wanted to confirm that there is no way of using my existing BMW subscription to get the official updates onto this replacement HU. It shows an update is available on the screen but it is not an NBTevo update.

Thanks and hope this all makes sense.

You have to get your fsc from your HU seller, create a FSC folder and save fsc in USB map disk. and then you can load map

If I got the FSC from the HU seller, surely that means i won't be able to use my BMW subscription as my sub would be linked to my old HU and my old HU maps.

I know i can buy maps online and a lifetime FSC but I am only asking whether I need to give up on the existing BMW map update subscription.

try asking BMW directly if they are able somehow to help you with transferring your subscription to the new unit.

Yes, your subscription is for factory installed HU and appropriate map, write off the balance of the old subscription, it is vin specific and now has no value because you changed HU hardware and operating system. Contacting BMW would just open a can of worms. You will find that you will no longer be able to buy any connected drive services from BMW for the same reason. Luckily for you NBT evo HUs have alternative options.
