Thumbs down October 2022 - BMW UK Safety Recall X1 25d

Hello,

I’m just writing to ask if anyone has received the UK BMW service recall for their X1. I have a 2016 25d and after checking the online tool, I have a safety recall for my car.

The dealer has advised that they need the car all day, but that a technician will have to advise exactly what will be performed as part of the recall. All I could be told was that it was part of an EGR recall launched in October 2022.

However, further research has shown that it may be a softwares update to the DDE.

Any feedback from anyone who has already had this update applied would be greatly welcomed and also I hope this may be a reminder for anyone who might have the same vehicle to check if they too need a recall.

I used the GOV.UK tool here:
https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

I hope this may help 👍🏻

Just had it. Was told it was DDE (what does that mean?)

Got a nice, free 1 series courtesy car whilst it was in.

Also got the dealer to do my service at same time. 6 years old, 40k miles and service was £240 which I thought was fine.

That’s really useful to hear your feedback, thank you for sharing. I believe the DDE stands for Digital Diesel Electronics. So it sounds like more of a software update than a physical component being replaced.

Glad you got a decent curtesy car. We have one booked for when the work is being carried out, but obviously unsure exactly what vehicle we will receive.
