Why the new X2 should be like "mini X4"
I like the current X2 exactly because it doesn't look like X4. While X4 is a great looking car for most of the sides, I really dislike the back - it looks overpumped and very heavy to me. Now there are saiyngs that X2 was kinda single-case design language car, and due to its "too much of conventional coupe" design and higher price it wasn't successful from sales perspective. But let's check the facts and compare the production volume of the three published years of X2 with the same years of X4:
2018: X2: 67,576 X4: 66,792 2019: X2: 91,812 X4: 61,569 2020: X2: 74,229 X4: 55,237 While it doesn't necessary represent the financial performance, the volume clearly shows the popularity of the model among the customers. And I think the comparison of sales between X2 and X4 makes much more sense than to compare the X2 with the "mainstream" SUV designed car like X1. I really think the new X2 will loose its uniqueness for the sake of unifying the design language among the carlines. So how do you guys feel about the changes the X2 is going to face? Well I’ll kick off with…
Having owned a 2021 X2 for a year after changing from my 2016 435d Gran Coupe (which I enjoyed for four years) and wifey owning a 2019 X3 MSport what would be my next consideration? The new X2 shape just leaves me flat, it doesn’t seem like an obvious progression from the current shape X2 Leaves me looking at the new X1 M35i mainly to get into a newer designed cabin M340i still interests me, probably as a touring |

I tend to agree with Johns. I have been following the trials and tribulations of the X1 beta testers both with cabin design and now ID9 issues. I will need to see an actual one up close before I could pull the trigger. Now if they made a fully electric version I might overlook design issues. In any event no need to really think about it until 2024 and all the kinks are worked out. I may early adopt a cellphone but generally not a car
