Wiper blades

I’m on my 4th set of Bosch blades and they don’t last long, the wiper chatter is very bad. Anyone else having issues like this? Or any suggestions on other blades? I know most of the problem is due to the large drivers blade size.

I’ve tried
-cleaning the windshield (It’s also 8 months old)
-cleaning the blades
-cleaning blades with WD40

We have had this persistent issue since we purchased new

Strange. Never had any trouble with Bosch blades. Last me for years. Could it be the screen wash, or the environment (ie near a sandy location)?

I suspect the wiper arm isn't at the correct angle to the screen. On all my previous cars this has been easily resolved by twisting it, but on this car the arm is not a simple flat section and twisting is just about impossible.

This is a regular complaint on many cars, not just BMWs. You need to ensure there is no grease or traffic film on the glass. Clean it vigorously with a glass cleaning compound as already suggested and use BMW screen wash at all times.

The windshield is clean I’ve cleaned it very well, like I said it was installed 8 months ago, we had the issue since we have had it unfortunately. I think Brian is onto something I used that trick on my older vehicles but I’m not to keen on bending the arm on this new of vehicle.

Perhaps I should look into some ceramic coating for the glass?

So pretty much everyone is using the Bosch wipers?

Thank you guys for the replies!

You said "The windshield is clean I’ve cleaned it very well". So you will need to degrease it and not clean it! I repeat degrease it. I have been doing this for years (since 1962) and believe me it will need it. You said it was installed 8 months ago, then I would postulate that it has never ever been degreased.

Also, be advised to use paper to remove the residue. We call it kitchen roll tissue in the UK.

can you recommend a degreaser that will work. I tried Meguiar polish, cleanssr and its not working. There is little improvement only with the above.
Feel like new blades can make the difference but considering your experience there might be a solution.

Thanks

MEK

Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) is a colorless liquid that has a sweet odor and is soluble in water. It is a highly volatile chemical and is frequently used as a commercial cleaner and solvent for glues, paints, coatings, and printing inks.

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL IT CAN STRIP THE PAINT OFF CARS.

It is very dodgy stuff and has been used by "glue sniffers"..... It can kill. I suggest you do a google search and read about it before using.

Great. I have never had any problems with any of the manufacturers.

There is no particular type that "Fits all situations be it temperature and so on and so forth" so to speak. If you read the following site you will see how that comes about...

The chattering is caused by the wipers jumping on the traffic film/rubber/oil/grease/diesel particles on the screen.

This is when you should be cleaning the screen with MEK and not changing the blades.

Since 1962 I have only ever changed around 3 or 4 sets of blades and this is when they split through age.

How about a "ceramic coating"? Could it reduce the drag and make it smoother for the water and wipers ?

Something link this ( just an example ) https://ceramicpro.com/how-to-apply-...ting-on-glass/
