Confused

Hi,

The digital services I have installed with Connected Drive+ are unable to be renewed unless I subscribe to Connected packages.

The cost of this is between £59-£89 p.a.

Does this mean that my current digital services will be free once they have expired if I sign up to Connected Packages - or are payments still required?

My iDrive is id6, apparently there is not an option to update to id7. Why is this? Spotify only works with id7

Many thanks.

Payment for one of the Connected packages is, as I found on expiry of my 3 year warranty, subject to whatever facility(s) you require from the UK Connected Drive store
(Link here:https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/index.html).
I have the Connected Package Plus, which cost £99.00 for 12 months from 6/21 and includes USB Map Updates; RTTI; Remote Services etc.
So far as Spotify is concerned, I have the App on my iPhone and can link that to listen in the car through the Media section of the iDrive screen (have the App open first on your phone).
Spotify does work with id6 and my 2018 X1 cannot be upgraded to id7 (unless anyone knows better!).
Hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply.

The Connected Package is a lot cheaper than renewing individual services then.

With regard to Spotify, I have an Android phone and a BMW "Genius" stated it would not work with Spotify using ID6. Hence, my query.

ID7 requires completely new hardware and any X1 with ID6 CANNOT be upgraded.

That's surprising, because all I do is open the Spotify app on my iPhone and then, connected to the car via Bluetooth, a few moments later it automatically picks up Spotify on the Media screen. I scroll down to Spotify and it plays the selected album (selected from the phone). It doesn't use the MyBMW app for that. Presumably you are able to connect your Android phone to the car via bluetooth for calls?

I was told by guys who do retrofits that it can be done but it requires replacing all hardware related. As such it is very expensive

....and that means the ECU. You are better off purchasing a car that comes with ID7 as standard fit.
