Anyone recall Ravenous (1999)?
I loved it from the first watch... haven't seen it in years, going to try to dig it up. IMO, underrated and deserving of a view. Jeffrey Jones was fantastic, Robert Carlyle too.

Ravenous is a 1999 horror Western cannibal film directed by Antonia Bird and starring Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle, Jeffrey Jones and David Arquette.[3] The film revolves around cannibalism in 1840s California and some elements bear similarities to the story of the Donner Party and that of Alferd Packer. Screenwriter Ted Griffin lists Packer's story, as recounted in a couple of paragraphs of Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man, as one of his inspirations for Carlyle's character.

I really enjoyed it. It's not the greatest movie ever, as some had personally told me, but I did really enjoy it. I thought it was a little bit too sentimental, and Iran will not have fifth generation stealth fighters. That was kind of silly. The Russians can't provide themselves with fifth generation fighters. But I love the last ride of the F 14, and how that might have accurately been portrayed. Kinda.

Ps they should not let people watch this movie and drive sports cars home. Way too dangerous.
I thought this movie was great - better than the first one. It was made in the older style of the first one so no nonsense.

Potential spoiler-

The two things that stuck out to me-

1) The beginning w the stealing of the new hypersonic plane... m8 thats not how it works... u are going to jail and dishonorably discharged. Also... Mach 10 has never been remotely reached in an aircraft. Also... no one is asking a near 60 year old to come back and fly planes.

2) We haven't had aerial dogfighting since the Vietnam war era lol... when the first top gun came out in 1986... it was already essentially over. Current day planes like the F22 are made for long range attack and would never engage in this type of combat... or instead be replaced by a drone... this type of pilot training no longer exists.

Its a movie I know I know... I really liked it but just bringing some real perspective in.

Alert alert

1 Plus, if you screw up at Mach three or above, you're probably not gonna live through that. There didn't seem to be kind of a podded escape system to get out, like the B 58 or Valkyrie bomber had.

2 not only do the Iranians not use, for the most part, Russian planes, the Russians don't have generation five planes. They can't seem to get the Pak one, or whatever it's called now, into production for themselves.

3 I called the cobra maneuver when it happened.

Interesting film, one which leaves much up to inference by the viewer based on the minimal conversation between the characters. You think the plot is going one way (again, based on inference), but it takes an abrupt turn. Very solid acting and beautiful scenery. Not sure if it reaches level of being Oscar-worthy for “best film”, but is worth watching.
Just finished watching it and its been great experience so far.

It's only $50 if you sneak in your own wine.

^Fudge, we just agreed to go Saturday with my wife's sister, at 2:30 in the afternoon. There is rumors of a very good martini bar just up the street. I proposed that we leave at noon to pre-game, and then follow up afterwards for dinner and more martinis.

Sounds like a solid plan even if the movie sucks.

The ex-wife and I used to get brunch, then put a pint of rum in her purse.

Get to the theater, buy a large drink. Go to the bathroom, dump some out, top off with rum. Enjoy movie.

But me and the current lady don't really mess with the movies. In the last, 6-7 years the only things I've gone to the theater for are the Rush and ZZ Top documentaries.

Rum? It sounds like a Murph kinda thing. The best bang for your buck would probably be the 151, right? I did at a hockey game one time, when I was about 20 or 21.

I've had a couple of bad experiences with the 151.

I've just had the one, and i don't drink rum anymore (edit: upon further review I've had 2, never order the "suffering bastard" at the tiki bar). Same with goldSchlager. I will not be sneaking those into the theater.
