Maybe around the time of the LCI?

I sat in an X2 last time I was in Munich at BMW Welt and it was too snug for me. How it drives I'd imagine it isn't bad considering BMW puts so much emphasis in the driving experience. I'm not too into its looks. It almost feels counter-intuitive to make a somewhat large vehicle so scrunched and anti-roomy. I'm very intrigued about how an M35i 2 liter car will perform though. If this four banger screams and gets nice mpg then the cramped ride might be forgivable.

Does anyone know the lease rates for November?

And are the lease rates for the M35i the same as the regular x2?

Lease rates for the 2019 X2 along with current incentive to the lease thread would be awesome

If you price out a 2018 and a 2019 X2 with the pricing guides the M35i is a steal. Basically for 2019 you get the M35i for the price of a well optioned 2018. Looks like for 2019 the PDC, CP, and driver assistance stuff is now standard.

Makes my X2 options 46,825 regular X2 vs 52,620 M35i. That same spec for a 2018 regular x2 ended up at 51,xxx.

Interesting. Hopefully the lease rates are good and BMW gives us some Holiday Cash

For me at least, I have a much more positive opinion of the X2 and especially the M35i when you think about it as a Golf R or Focus RS type of vehicle rather than a SUV or SAV or SAC.

The UK market is obsessed with 320ds and crossovers, so it's only a matter of before BMW comes up with a 320d-ish crossover. "Eh wallah"!

SAV, crossovers, whatever you call them are driving global car sales. BMW would be suicidal not to segment the bejesus out of the market and take sales from the Q1, Q3, T-Roc, you name it. Why are people questioning this car's purpose when the deadliest competitors - including the 500L and the Macan simultaneously - are selling like gangbusters, and the X2 itself is getting great reviews? Is it just "internet fundamentalism"?

You're lucky indeed that the RoW subsidises your Porsches. The base Macan with a 240 bhp four-pot here is £5k more than the X2M.

I fully understand what BMW is doing with this model. Doesn't mean I have to like it!! Having seen one in the metal in a showroom, I wouldn't buy one, period

Abolutely, of course not, but you can't extend your personal preference to the entire market when you look at how powerful these things are.

For example, I like the 3 series. (That's why I'm here, not trolling for shit on an Audi forum somewhere.) I like the 3 touring too, as the extra space is useful. However the roads in Britain are pretty bad, and often not suited to BMWs which are developed in a country where the roads are generally a lot better. And having bent several alloys and replaced countless strut mounts, LCAs and lollipops since 1990, I want a tough car with bigger wheels able to soak up poor surfaces. Something like the X1 or X2 (same car, your own personal choice as to which one) does that better than a 3 Touring. The popularity of crossovers in the UK is partially attributed to this.

Of course in the end i took neither, but a 2 series and a cheap crapper for £1000 for dragging stuff around in. I leave the crapper outside the house for it to be keyed and kicked .

Had a loaded X2 as a loaner for a week. Was a shockingly good handling car for what it is. Actually looking forward to trying out an X2 M35. People should reserve their reflexive hate until they actually drive one.

That Bentaya is beyond odd looking.

Better get it in black or something.

Macan has a much cleaner look.

Turned it back in yesterday...service adviser asked what I thought. Looked over at the car, looked back at him, replied, "why"? He laughed. Said he gets that almost every time.

Most aren't seeing it. At least those of us who grew up on the smaller lineup of 3's, 5's and 7's plus TRUE M cars and special runs of 6's and 8's.

And therein might be the issue we debate. I'm wondering if the car has more appeal to a younger segment.

I like the macan.

Clearly two different types of cars. I don't put the them as competitors .
That's cause they're not competitors. The X4 is the direct competitor to the Macan.
That's what I wanted to say but didn't want to be rude.
Nothing rude about informing the misinformed

Not offered anywhere apparently. Have to go for 3 series or above vehicles for I6 I suppose?

It's funny you say that. When we did our training on this before it a came out, they told us they were aiming for a younger, more "hip" crowd. They actually had a slide of a mom driving this and she had a full sleeve. But what has actually happened is little old ladies are buying them instead. This car is selling to the exact opposite market of what they intend and it's also falling flat on its face and no one can sell them. This should have without a doubt been a hot hatch like the 135i in Europe. Or just lower it and make it rwd.

That is unfortunate. To an outsider who has been a loyal client of BMW since 96, it feels like BMW wants to appeal to everyone. And that's not usually a good approach.

It's not my cup of tea, but the thing is selling a metric f$@k ton.

So I'd have to respectfully disagree.

I looked at X2 and X1 the other day for a potential next car for my wife and baby boy on the way. I don't get it. The X1 has so much more room. Granted I don't get America's fascination with SUVs in general

I fully agree with you! I've been driving a fully loaded X2 sdrive28i MSport for 2 months now as my daily and I am really impressed with how it handles and the actual roominess it offers. I have owned multiple BMWs since 1993, and I am a current BMW Client Adviser so I know all our cars by heart. It more than serves its purpose and I can't wait to try the new one with the M differential and the upgraded power, it will be a blast!

For all the "purists" mongering about why did BMW build this, why wouldn't they? Crossovers and SUVs are ruling the sales market right now. Besides the 2 series, what other small car does BMW even make anymore? The X2 is small, fun and quite different than everything out there, in a great way.

Just go drive one, then comment.

Here's my demo X2-
