Interestingly I just happened to have my M35 (2019) in for its first service today and there was a new M35 (2020) on the showroom floor. I went to have a look if anything was different to mine and I straight away noticed the 2020 model has the smaller dial but the larger 10" screen. BMW Genius there says it was part of the MY change in spec, at least for AUS cars.

What model and model year do you have?
It depends on which model you have (28i s/x drive or M35i)and changes were made from 2019 to 2020

My US 2020 M35i has no touchpad. After bringing it up with the dealer the response was "your car doesn't have the hardware for it". Since the sales literature refers to it, I'm rather annoyed, too. Planning to bring it up with BMW USA.

It's a nice feature, good for safety with a handsfree phone, when you don't want to dictate all your phone numbers to Amazon, or Google, or whoever.

Good luck - but I would keep your expectations low. I pushed my dealer to get an official BMW response and was told it was an intentional decision to delete the touchpad as well as the CD changer for the X2 M model. When I pressed about getting it swapped out for the touchpad controller, I was told it would not be compatible with my hardware (i.e., the head control unit). I am not going to fight it much more at this point as I am looking to sell the car anyway.

Yeah, I have a 2020 X2 M35 with every options (except DDC and H/K) and don't have a touchpad.

Speaking of fully loaded...why the dealer didn't have an HK car is beyond me...so upset that they'd get every option EXCEPT the HK. Life wtf.

I went through that in Dec 2018, the dealer had ZERO h/k optioned x2s, wound up special ordering for it, this was not a small dealer and they had 10/15 x2s on the lot.

I was surprised as well.. there were more people forking out for the apple wireless charging than the HK system! Priorities... haha. If it weren't for the added hotspot feature, $600 for a wireless pad that you can spend $50 or less to put something else in there is really nuts.. still I can also hotspot for free anyways, I don't quite see the advantage.

Their images online also show the covered front cupholder assembly that hasn't been available since the 2018 MY

Just get the Audiotec Fischer UP7BMW amp and you’ll blow away the HK-system!

I've definitely thought of that as my next upgrade. I first added two tweeters that the Hifi system is missing and it satisfied me for now. There's also one center tweeter that's missing but I don't need that much treble.
