If I'm on a one lane road I slow down a ton to piss them off even more.

I think i'm a pretty sensible driver. I tend to drive pretty fast on the highway(up to about 80). On a single lane road i usually won't go faster than about 60. On a single lane road, if i come across someone going slowly, I would never tail gate under anycircumstances, thats rude and disrespectful b/c me tailgaiting is not going to help the situation. Where is the poor man/woman going to move over to?
Same applies to the highway during rush hour traffic. Even if the person moves over theres 200 others cars in front of him so you're not going to get very far by tailgating. Now what really annoys me is when there is one lone person driving 55 in the left lane with nobody in front of him/her for miles. When someone is approaching faster than you, the polite thing to do in that situation is just to move over and let them pass. Now even in that situation I will just pass on the right if i can but if i can't I WILL tailgate, and let me tell you there is nothing more irritating or annoying than if that person slows down on purpose or esp. hits the brakes. What nerve! Any other situation fine, but im sure everyone can agree nobody should do that in that situation. Just be POLITE and let the person pass and get back to the left lane if you want too.

On a serious note, if there is nothing in front of me I will move out of the way. It's the idiots that ride your tail when there is a car in front of me that pi$$ me off. They can't go anywhere.

Tail gating

Most of the time I just slow down and try to let them pass me. If there are no passing lanes, I slow down anyway because I want extra space between me and the car directly before me...that way at least I won't get sandwiched.

On single lane roads, I have thought about slowing down even to a stop, then getting out of the car looking pissed...but then I remember --that's the way to get shot. When I was younger (and immortal) I'd let them pass me eventually, then tailgate them aggressively with my brights on. Now I'm like "Gawd, was I that much of an idiot?"

there are many ways to deal with tailgaters. But this the traffic school instructor brought a very good point : you never know who's out there on the street. It's better to just change lane and let them pass. Swallow your pride a little and be the better man. He brought up this story (forgot which state, I think it was Texas) in which there was a whole gang of middle easterners in a van. The van was filled with dynamite and guns. They were gonna go somewhere and kill a bunch of people. Now imagine if you pissed them off by squirting your windshield fluid or braking in "until they wake up". It only takes a few seconds to change lane but it could save your life. I thought this was reasonable to share with you guys.

TO THOSE WHO USES WINDHSHIELD WIPER FLUID "METHOD":

Does it really work? I never tried it before. I thought it would just spray all over your windshield or other parts of your car.

As a motorcyclist,

I can tell you the washer method works, I've been sprayed a couple of times (usually doesn't seem like the driver was trying) but it sure does work

If anyone does that to me, i'm gonna cut around you brake and then literally empty my tank, but then I rarely tailgate so...

If i'm in the fast lane and going the same pace as everyone else in the fast lane, when a jackass come up behind me and gets on my rear i'll do these things in this order.

1. tap the brakes lightly

2. spray the windshield wipers

3. adjust my drivers side mirror to blind the bastard. (this works 95% of the time)
