New app for BMW connected drive

Just wanted to check status of oil level on my X1 via the app. Apart from the fact I was asked for my password which was not recognised, the layout when you finally get in has completely changed. I can no longer check fluid levels remotely. Instead I can go to a store to buy BMW goods I don’t want or need.

I haven’t looked at the app, but I have in the past couple of days checked the oil level via the iDrive screen and have a graphic display of the current level. On mine it’s just below ‘max’.
Interestingly, on looking at my Owners Handbook it tells me that I should not add oil until a message appears on screen that will also inform how much is needed to top up.
Late Addition: I’ve just checked the BMW Connected app on my iPhone and it shows OK Engine Oil level under the ‘info’ tab. OK Tyre Pressures too. The app was updated 26 March 2019.

It's all about technology - or it is when it works!
Anyway, pleased you've sorted it out .

Check fluid levels? Check tyre pressures? From the Connected app?!! How long has this been going on? I have the app, use it to send destinations etc, sometimes flash lights or check it's locked...but I have none of the "Check..." malarky. What am I missing? (2016 25i)

The app is BMW Connected Drive. I'm not able to upload pics but, for iPhone, if you search for BMW Connected Drive on the App Store yo can see graphics that show what the app does for you. One of the images is headed 'Control your BMW from anywhere' and there are two tabs, REMOTE and INFO. The INFO tab shows the status of DOORS and WINDOWS plus Check Control Messages, inc Tyre Pressure and Engine Oil level plus several Enabled Features for your BMW.
Regrettably, I don't know what might show re the App if you have an Android mobile phone, but hope that helps.

What year is yours with all the extra functions? I suspect it's an idrive version difference. I can't check any levels of anything on my 2016 model just lock / unlock / horn / lights ...

It's a 2018 18i xLine Auto with iDrive 6 assembled and delivered 3/18 (ordered 1/18). Paid extra late last year to add Remote Services (£60pa), which shows vehicle location on the app, although it isn't a full security tracking type service.
As I said previously, if I go into Vehicle Settings, I can see the oil level, which you may or may not have on your car. It takes a while as you must have the engine properly warmed up, standing on level ground and running throughout. It then takes around a minute to measure, the process showing a percentage until complete, after which it shows a graphic 'dipstick' with the current oil level. It only shows OK on the ConnectedDrive app though.
Personally, I would prefer to just have a dipstick. It's quicker, less polluting (because the engine isn't running) and to me, better than hoping the technology is up to scratch!

I am in Canada and I have a 2018 X1 F48 xDrive28i xLine (built 11/2017). The oil level displays the same as described by oakey46 on the iDrive screen in the car and just "OK" in the ConnectedDrive app (no dipstick). The tires do not have TPMS sensors and the car checks if tire pressure is okay by comparing revolutions between wheels, so there is no numerical readout, only "OK" on the iDrive screen and in the ConnectedDrive app.

I think there are different versions and availabilities of BMW apps depending on the market/country/region. The Canadian android apps are useless, but I was able to download and install (side-load) the USA android app that works.

I assume you’ve searched the App Store specifically for BMW Connected Drive, but as wcs2229 says, there are country specific versions of the software and you will probably only be able to access and install the app for your location, wherever you may be based.
