Display of the instrument cluster.

Hello guys,
I am wondering about the display in the instrument cluster whether it is with colours or just amber. I am sure that if someone chooses the 8,8 navigation setup with the extended display, it's going to be with colours. I am also pretty sure from pics I have seen in the web that the display is plain (just amber) when the car does not have navigation at all. I am not sure though what is the case of the display when the car has entry level navigation. From pics I have seen in the net, it seems to me that the display has colours and it is not just amber. Anyone to shed some light on ? Thank you in advance !

The loan X1 we have has the basic navigation and instrument cluster. I will take some pictures later for you to see, but the majority of the dash is amber the little display between the dials does show other colours as it has a blue display in eco pro mode and the speed limit signs show up in the correct colour.

Road signs ? So the car has driving assistant which includes extended instrument cluster, same as if someone has the 8,8 navigation setup. I think that coloured center display goes together with the extended instrument cluster, which comes two ways whether driving assistant or 8,8 navigation. I am talking about having neither of the two, just entry level navigation.

Went to the dealer and sorted it out. Here is how it goes, at least for configurations in my country. I am talking about the display positioned between the rev. dial and the speed dial. Models WITHOUT navigation NOR driver assistant get a display with amber indications.
Models WITHOUT navigation WITH driver assistant get the extended instrument cluster wich includes this display in coloured indications.
Models WITH entry level 6,6 navigation WITHOUT driver assistant get a coloured display.
Models WITH entry level 6,6 navigation WITH driver assistant get the extended instrument cluster wich includes this display in coloured indications.
Models WITH 8,8 navigation WITH/WITHOUT driver assistant get the extended instrument cluster wich includes this display in coloured indications.
Useful piece of information for me as I did not go for the 8,8 navigation nor for the driver assistant but I wanted the display to be in colour as it feels more upmarket and modern !
Cheers

The car we have is a bit of an oddity as it is dealer launch spec. For whatever reason it has the speed limit display, but nothing else form the driving assistant. It also does not have the extended instrument cluster. Along with this the car only has the basic navigation.

Hi

Also has the same questions about display / extended display. I confirm those combinations, at least mine (6.6 nav with driver assistant +)

Never heard of the small amber display though

@did75 when I said about the small amber display I had in mind the one washy posted. I never knew that it was half amber half coloured. I also didn't know that you could have road signs without the driving assistant or driving assistant plus. Anyway maybe I misunderstood about the displays and confused you and there is no such thing like a small only amber. But I think that today at the dealership I saw a car without the 8,8 navi(just the 6,6) and without the driving assistant, that was coloured not just half amber half coloured. In case I am wrong, I would like to apologize in advance for all this unnecessary fuss !

Or a (very poorly taken) one right now :-) displays mainly Amber when lights are on, mainly white when they are not.

I'll shoot the various displays with a proper camera

It is getting more interesting. This is something that I found on the net, and what I am almost sure I saw today at the dealership.

Here is one more pic. As we can see this car does not have driving assistant nor the 8,8 navigation, just the entry level navigation. I am kind of confused with all these displays and combos of BMW. It is like trying to solve sudoku !

Makes sense. Basic setup and none of the required options to get extended display = small color display.

There are only 2 setups : this one and the black panel pictures before. I don't think there is a 3rd combination

That is the same as the one we have. did75 is correct there are only the two versions.

washy is this the same as the one you have in your car? In the pics you posted except from some info shown in colour, other things such as the gear engaged or the clock are in amber. In the pic above if am not mistaken the colour seems like white or something else like light cyan or so.

White during the day, amber at night. Even the climate control display changed from white to amber at night.
