Has anyone replaced their run flats for non run flats? If so what kind of ride do you have and what tires did you go with? Thanks

Hi, I have done a review X1 - 2.0D Xdrive -X line in which I comented on non run flat tyres, and glad I took the decision to go down that route.

Yesterday i replace my 225/45-19 Bridgestone S001 Runflat for
225/45-19 92W MFS Dunlop Sportmaxx RT

The Dunlop Tires are very low noise 67 DB and very comfortable !
And they have MFS ! ( MFS stands for Maximum Flange Shield. It is an alloy rim protection technology patented by Dunlop. Dunlop MFS tyres have an additional profile of rubber running along the tyre circumference close to the lower sidewall. This rubber band is positioned just above the alloy rims and thus offers additional protection to expensive rims from accidental kerbing damage.)

Do let us know what you think of the your new non-RFT tyres after a week or so! I think quite a few of us would be interested to know if they make a substantial improvement to the ride and tyre noise. You haven't had your X1 (with RFT) for very long though right?

I drove for 2 months on non-RFT winter tyres 19" and since wednesday they have been replaced for my summer tyres, same brand (Bridgestone) only RFT's and I really don't like the ride, it is more noisy and the ride became stiffer

I am very curious when i test drive your dunlops hart4bmw

You made a good decision, love my non run flats, makes the ride smoother and much quieter.
Non run flats get my vote every time. One reason I left the brand few years ago when they introduced run flats with no other option.

My car came with Dunlop Sport Maxx RFTs and I find them to be fairly loud. Maybe the non-RFT is quieter though.

I drive a week now, the NON runflats from Dunlop Sport are very quiet en very comfortable. These tires are perfect !! I am very happy with the 225/45-19 92W MFS Dunlop Sportmaxx RT

I have summer run-flat tires Bridgestone S001 on the car. I plan to drive spring-summer-autumn this year and switch to non-RFT for winter, but I am looking for a all-season's. Continental has decent all-season tires, DWS series, and they just released an updated model last year:

So do I! Went back to my 19" summer Bridgestone S001 RFTs and they are plain horrible. Tyres had just 250KM from factory, before I switched to my Contis TS830P winter non-rfts. Now back to crap road feeling, harsh steering, tram lining, vibration resonance on steering wheel and all that jazz. Now considering my Contis were 96XL load factor, and these Bridgestones are just 92, I cannot believe how bad they are. And we're talking Swiss smooth highways here..

Cmon BMW, read a few blogs and count the numbers: How many of your customers went from RFT to Non-RFTS, vs the other way around.. Its a no-brainer!

PS. Luckily for me, I optioned the car with a spare wheel and a jack, so non-RFTs are in search this weekend.

If you want to change because of all you heard on Run Flats ... Give you time to appreciate them and see by yourself that those are in fact really great.

With two different X1 ( a 2012 and a 2015 ) I had the chance to ride with OEM Pirellis, then Bridgestone Potenza S001 and now on GoodYear EfficientGrip all ROF tires and I really liked everyone of them in terms of ride quality, handling and all ...

My preference would go: Potenza S001 , Efficient Grip and the Cinturato (Pirellis ).

The best all around for now would be the Goodyear Efficient Grip because the thread is going to last longer than the Potenza. Pirellis Cinturato were fried after only two summer.

If you want to "change" for non-ROF because of the price, first go and check the new Bridgestone Driveguard ROF. Very good pricing and those will last longer than any OEM ROF because they are All Season instead of Performance.

That way you will have better pricing, good threadwear and more comfort.

The comment above is exactly how I feel. I went from Bridgestone blizzard winter tyres (non run flat) to Bridgestone S001 RFTs and they are horrible... Much harder ride and I can not believe that it is so different. I am soooo glad that we had the option for the Mini f56 to go to non-rft Michelins from the factory. So weird that BMW does not have that option.
