Some years ago I used to do it on my my X3.

1. In the UK.....If the 3-year warranty has expired it costs more than if the car is still inside the warranty when you take it out and the level of cover such as paying first £100 or £250.

2. It depends on whether you opt for monthly or yearly payment options. Monthly is dearer by quite a margin.

3. Also, it depends on mileage 60,000 to 100,000 and other factors such as drivetrain or everything. Sorry, I forgot the exact wording.

4. The extended warranty also includes BMW Full Breakdown Recovery. When compared to the AA or the RAC costs it is a good deal.

Edited.
5. If you purchased the car recently, and not new, was it under the BMW Approved Used Car scheme? If under 12 months you should be completely covered for any problems.

So car hits 3 years old next few weeks, got a quote at 25k miles £411 comp £100 excess for a year. Question is , is there any issues on 1.5 petrol auto that makes the warranty a good idea, Is there many issues with this car ?
thanks

Make sure you know exactly what it covers and does not. It often does not cover the same things as the original warranty.

Here's a link to the BMW UK site for the BMW Extended Warranty: https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Start
As you will see via the various tabs, it covers various optional levels of cover and roadside assistance.
I went for 'peace of mind' when the original BMW UK manufacturers 3 year warranty expired at the end of 3/21 and took up the 1 year 'Comprehensive' cover option, including full roadside assistance in the UK/EU. Not especially cheap, but I did go for an optional excess, of which various levels are available and which reduced the cost.
I shall probably change the car towards the end of the warranty period and not necessarily another BMW (Volvo XC40 is current 'favourite' as it generally receives positive reviews compared against similar SUVs, including the X1).

This compares favourably with my previous F25 X3 30dMSport.

Possibly, but I've yet to have a close look. The XC40 PHEV version starts at £37345, whereas the 'full' EV is from £49950, which seems very costly and has a range of 259 miles. By comparison, the Standard Range+ Tesla Model 3 has a range of 278 miles and is at £40990, which makes the XC40 seem rather over priced. Maybe I'll wait to see what the next gen X1 has to offer in EV/PHEV format early 2022.

Thats surprising because my X1 was bought new and serviced via Sytner. I’d have thought they’d only sell the BMW warranty. Anyway, I bought my extended 1 year warranty from BMW because it gives me full flexibility to have the car serviced etc elsewhere without being tied to the single dealer chain, which may or may not be the case with any Sytner only warranty.

Nobody on this forum can advise you, because you have not stated what the Terms and Conditions and what is covered with the Synter warranty. Do you have them?

I would hazard a guess that if Synter is trying to sell you a warranty, they are using one of the normal warranty vendors, it will have a mark up.

You could browse through these and do a better deal than any garage. A broker is always the way to go.
