It's going to be a whole lot more paint correction than I expected. Going to have someone else do it. I don't have the space or time.
I average 20k miles a year and it looks like it will be the same. Work hasn't changed since covid, I'm still working 5 days on, 2 days off. I've done two trips to Fort Bragg, NC so far (to visit my grandkids) and we have two more trips planned this year so I'll probably be up in miles soon enough. |

It's a great car for road trips, comfy and still sporty if you want to play a little on fun roads. Holds a good bit of stuff too, that part surprised me given how small it looks from the outside.

My paint is damn near perfect and I’m a detailer by hobby. Plenty of clearcoat, polishes up well, I had an 18 Camaro and a 19 Corvette and this paint is better.

The previous owner only put 3800 miles on it but it’s been through quite a few non touchless car washes based on the paint condition. My detailer is going to take care of it and tint the front windshield for me. I’m driving the exwife’s car this week so at least I’m back in a convertible (miss my F33) even if it is a Camaro.

Even worse, 1400 of those miles were from moving from San Diego to Dallas. Daily driving it's only got 4500 miles. I could sell/Carmax/trade it in and it'd be a wash today. {Looks at M3's on BMW Build tool} Nope! Bad! Bad idea!

Decided to try the TDI-Tuning box on my X2 M35i. I’m a sucker for 20% off codes. 🤦🏻*♂️ ordered it. I really need to stop being bored and awake on my days off at night. 😂
Many thanks to xcelir8bmw for his science project. |

No tools required my @$$
Lol Thankfully I had my handy 10mm. Got it installed. Burned some skin off my thumb. Now I start work and can’t try it out for 8 hrs. At least the car’s in the garage at work for tonight’s expected hail storm. Lol |

Well, drove home (15 miles) with a check engine light.
Code was P0342 (camshaft position sensor A circuit low bank 1) Got home. Couldn't clear code. So I'm guessing the install instructions were wrong because this part went in opposite of the factory connector so I flipped this part against TDI's instructions: Then I was able to clear the code. Car started up fine with no check engine light. Going to bed now. Will test it some more after I get up and see if check engine light returns. |

Ok. About ten days and 500 miles and the TDI on setting 4 seems to be working great!
And I hit this milestone today. |

Thanks for sharing updates! Damn, I'm slacking. Coming up on 9 months and I only have 1600 miles lol On a normal year, I do around 12-15k/year but last year was anything but normal

You're welcome! I just love driving this thing compared to my F33 430. I do miss the convertible now that the weather is warming up, but the M35i engine just puts a smile on my face everytime I hit the gas (and my F33 had BM3 stage 1). I average 20k a year with several trips to Fort Bragg, NC to visit my grandkids.
I bought my daughter a brand new 2020 Subaru Impreza in September for her 18th birthday. She's virtual schooled (last year) and has no job, yet she's at 14k miles already!!! |

I've been running it on 4 since I installed it. I'll up it to 5 for a week, then 6 then 7 and see how it drives.

old question
On the spare tire you ordered. Did you go with the Modern Spare kit or build your own?
What size tire and how well does it fit in the recessed storage? I'm looking at a 2019 x2 m35i with 28k on it! |

I bought the spare wheel for the X1 (36116851507) and a Kumho T121 tire in 135/90D17. My boss put them together for me (he has a lift and tire thing in his home garage).
It does not fit in the recessed storage. I only bring it on trips and just toss it in the back with a scissor jack and my impact wrench. I do keep an air compressor and plug kit in the car anyway. I'm thinking of picking up a $70 pittsburgh lightweight jack from harbor freight and a RennStand to bring on trips. scissor jacks take forever. lol I know if I get a flat on the front, I will have to put the spare on the back and move one of those to the front. It doesn't look like the spare will clear the M Brakes up front. Just took a two state trip a few weeks ago, even with runflats, I threw the "kit" in the back. Front tires down to 5mm and rears to 6mm, going to hope they make it through winter then I will replace them all with goflat tires. Got my last free oil change today at 18333 miles. Tech didn't even care I had the TDI device hooked up. His video panned across it. |

I contacted Modern Spare when I was looking for my spare.
They could not provide me the offset for me to check if it would clear the sport brakes. However, they did offer that if it doesn't fit, they will send me a spacer for free. Also they asked me to do a test fit on the front wheel. When I send back the pictures of the test fit, they will give $25 refund back on my card. I went with a custom kit. You can try to contact them for the same deal... |
