You have to be pretty high on yourself and naive to think the X1 is anything more than a good entry level luxury SAV. I'm sick of "honest" reviews always praising every single vehicle they test. The X1 isn't gods gift to small SAVs, despite what their owners think.

Yes, I do own an X1 and it definitely has it's flaws and I won't be getting another one once the lease it up.

No one is saying the X1 is perfect, I am just saying that this review is utterly wrong and unprofessional. Apart from the reviewer talking how bad the X1 drives, without actually having driven it, he said many wrong facts and at one time I remember him saying that "the X1 is too small even for a small SUV" which is just ridiculous, especially for the EU-market.

Since you own an X1 yourself, please do tell us what are your issues with the car? I am sure you will be more competent compared to this journalist, at least you have driven the car.

Driving my F48 LCi since October 2019. The car is a 25d Xdrive and it´s 34.000 kms today (8 months).
I´m very happy with it, enjoying its driving everyday, enjoying how it looks and how this BMW feels. Been driving it on ice, snow, rain and dry asphalt. No problem at all, always the same trustworthy, sporty car.

I watched the review as well and agree with your sentiments. What was he expecting for the entry level SUV?

I picked up our X1 as we're expecting our first child and needed a bigger car (previously driving a Polo). I test drove the Tiguan, Rav 4 and CX-50 and found the X1 was overall the best. Each of the cars I drove had their pluses and minuses, and the Rav 4 was the one I was looking at the most but didn't feel like waiting 6+ months for a car!

I knew exactly what I was getting for my cash when I bought the X1 and if I wanted a bigger/faster car, I would have. But considering 99% of my driving is inner city and under 40 minutes driving, why pay extra when it's not needed?

I have just picked my first X1 up, hence this being my first bimmerpost post, so go easy on me!!

It ticks all the boxes I was looking for and I’m really pleased.

One thing though as I can’t appear to post a thread...........my volume button on the radio itself doesn’t appear to work. I can mute etc but not adjust the volume! Any ideas would be appreciated

2018 X1 premium enhanced vs 2019 X1 premium

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a X1 and I've found two X1 at (mostly) the same price :

1) 2018 X1 Premium enhanced with 40 000 km and a harmon sound
2) 2019 x1 premium with 20 000 km

They both are 28i xdrive.

I'm not sure what would be the best choice... Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

Simon

I once was in the same situation. I looked at it this way. How long would I be comfortable driving this car in kilometers? My maximum distance was about 250.000 km when I expected to get rid of the car again. My calculation said it would mean only about 9 months of difference in ownership time so I went with the car with high mileage and lots of equipment since ago itself never would become a problem.

However there is one important thing to remember. If you are a sound guy the HK sound system is barely good enough (according to my ears). The HK sound system in the X1 is a cheap version of the “same” sound system of fx the F30 HK sound system.

But if you get the regular non-hk system (and in the USA it's only hifi or HK... everywhere else you can get even worse). Then you would wish you got the HK sound system! Haha Price wise I would expect the 18 to be cheaper. I am honestly not familiar with what enhanced is exactly... I would say premium including the LED lights etc is a must.. HUD wasn't included and separate (yet on the newer models it's included in the premium package). But.. sounds like the 18 has more in it for just 20K difference in mileage that I can do in less than 9 months .. so no biggie.

New owner

New to the thread and new owner of a 2020 X1. I’m currently overseas in Germany and picked up a US Spec w/ premium package brand new from BMW. We love the car but some of the std features aren’t activated. Specifically my CarPlay and it has US maps. Can I install European maps and activate CarPlay event though I’m not in the US? This is probably better suited for another thread, but had to start somewhere.

Odd question. I purchased a car from BC, Canada and now have it in Alberta, Canada. I noticed the Alberta plate does not line up with the holes at the back, on the trunk. Anyone know a work around? Right now I'm only using 1 bolt hole and fear that the plate will eventually get loose. It also looks kinda weird being off-centre because of it.

My memory might be off.. but I'm 99.9% sure that the license plates in Canada.. and in all places by that respect is standard based on the country. I would think that whomever you bought the car from must have mucked something up or got some custom bracket in the back of your car. When you buy a mounting plate for BMW there is only ONE option, so with that respect it should be the same. And... I can say that the Alberta plate is EXACTLY the same as a bunch of ones here in the States, since I had moved from Alberta to the states and brought a car down two decades ago.

Sounds right, but we should still wait for confirmation.

Take a look at the final design here: https://video.autobild.de/files/vide...f14dea06e2.mp4

Picked up a 2018 sDrive 28i for my daughter who is about to get her license. Been and will use as a daily so that my daughter gets used to driving it until then. Would have preferred to get the xDrive but that's just me. Surprisingly it has a little pep, was expecting a lot worse. I guess i've been spoiled by my F15 xDrive 50i or wifes F30 335i both of which are MSports.
