OK I see where the confusion is now. Palbay's pictures shows the 30i M-Sport "bumper" on a M40i (fin delete, damaged, test mule, etc). That was determined by Max Well in post 5 and myself in post 12 that it's an M-Sport front end. What I would like to know is, where did you get that pic of the G01 30i you posted?
Flexible configurator?...Photoshop?

I saw Max Well's post and many other's asking why there is no trim. I guess I missed your post correctly pointing out that it has the wrong bumper.

It's the same configurator as other's except it doesn't come pre-configured with the standard options. Do not pay attention to that picture, the only reason I posted it is to show what M Sport bumper looks like.

Front bumper - For some reason this M40i is equipped with the M Sport bumper rather than the M40i bumper. Either the original bumper was damaged and replaced or this is a pre-production model.

Do you have something official from BMW USA on this issue. I already ordered my X3 M40 have not received a production date yet. At this point looking to put my order on hold until steering wheel shortage is solved.

You are in Germany, so your X3 M40i will come with the M-Sport Wheel as seen on the Germany BMW configurator.

Those 718Ms look great, but IMO, they wouldn't last long in the NYC jungle.

I don't know if or when US-spec X3 will get an M Sport steering wheel. I just know that in May BMW announced that there is an M Sport steering wheel shortage. The announcement doesn't mention M Performance cars, but mentions M Sport packages. It is my assumption that shortage is the reason why US is not getting the M Sport steering wheel in the G01.

But why then are they not "rationing" them on any other BMW model? If you get the M Sport Package on any other BMW, you get the steering wheel.

Each model has its own steering wheel part?

Beats me. I'm way too stupid to answer that. I just know I'm getting frustrated about this. Seems very unfair that an M40i owner has to buy a $1,000 steering wheel and have it installed if/when they become available.

I see the frustration here and I am personally annoyed, but the order sheet is where it matters. US (and Canada) G01 M-Sport and M40i SAVs are "supposed" to get an M-Sport steering wheel standard according to the "Standard Features" section on the BMW USA website but the Spec/Pricing Guide for a 30i M-Sport and an M40i clearly shows Option 255 as STD - 255 Sport leather steering wheel. M40i owners don't have to buy anything else to steer their vehicles with. Not defending this situation because it sucks.

BMW kept this as quiet as possible so it stayed off the radar. Mission accomplished. Most customers have no idea. Those that do can voice their opinions with their wallets.

I have no idea, but in the original announcement it listed the following M Sport cars.

320i/xi from Rosslyn
X3, X4, X5 from Spartanburg
G30 and G12 from Dingolfing

Again, this is from the end of May and at this point the steering wheel shortage might be over and BMW simply decided not to offer it on the X3. If you really want to get to the bottom of it, I suggest you to contact BMW of NA.

Exactly. Whatever that front bumper is looks better to me than that busy tusk thing.

I hope they detach easily and can be done in gloss black along with the front grills, mirror caps(or body color), and the side breathers. Debadge it and I think it will look awesome.

The front grilles are not going to be so easy to modify because they are active. Too many questions from are they easily removable to could they be wrapped in place etc. Going to need to get up close!

Active Grilles @ 4:15

I like low profile tires, but it needs to fit the car. BMW is notorious for making them to small...well also Hyundai.

Let's hope that they are. Either way I'm sure bmw will offer an oem black version of the active grills at some point.
