Manufacturing delays

I have been told that my 2.0i X1 X-Line is to be delayed by 4-6 weeks as a result of a parts shortage.

The car was ordered back in July with an expectation of a launch date delivery.

BMW UK have been very good and have given me a courtesy car until mine arrives.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi

Same thing for me, with same explanation. I wonder which parts are missing as it seems some X1 have already been delivered. Let's keep this thread active to exchange info

BMW is experiencing a shortage of rear backup cameras. To quote the BMWNA ordering guide, "10/8/2015 Due to supply issues with Rear view camera (3AG), Driver Assistance Package 2 (ZDN), including Park Distance Control (508) & Parking Assistant (5DP) is now available."

BMW North America has split up some options as a result in order to keep the sales pipeline going while BMW AG copes with the parts shortage.

My car has been manufactured on the 14th of September and I am still waiting for it to be delivered!!! Almost two months since manufacture! No feedback at all from BMW Cyprus - they do not even answer their phones

Hi
Just for general info about deliveries, I ordered new X-Line 25d on 30th October. I was given week 51 / 52 as delivery date. Dealer was unaware of any likely delays. Mineral Grey with Black Dakota and 566 alloys.

still waiting

I ordered it 8/22, I was told it was built arund 10/11 and on 10/19 it should be here the beg. of Nov. Just contacted my dealer and now it was never shipped.
There is issues with the factory running out of supplies. He mentioned he was not allowed to take order in oct so more people will have to wait.

I just want my car I have been saving for since i was a kid.
bottom line is I wonder if i can just got an x3 or something other bmw and be done with it.

@redbanknj, that really sucks. Picking up a brand new car should be a fun experience, not frustrating.

Check your VIN for production date on this website: http://www.bimmer.work and confirm your dealer is telling you the truth.

In the Uk we can enter the VIN into he BMW site and see that he car has been produced, but it provides no updates of where the car is. The dealer can give no further updates and even BMW UK customer services have no idea of a delivery date.

In their defence of their service, they have given me another car to use whilst we wait, but it is rather tarnishing the whole joy of getting a new car that I don't know if I'll have it next week, next month or maybe even next year.

I am facing the same issue - my car was produced on 14/09/2015 (according to the VIN decoder), and still not shipped!!! The local dealer in Cyprus has no idea on when it will be shipped or when it will be delivered. Honestly, I cannot understand how the most premium car manufacturer in the whole world does not have an online tracking system to track the car until it gets delivered to the local dealers - come on, we live in 2015!!!! Afterall, waiting for our car is the most exciting part of the whole process....but unfortunately, they make it the most frustrating experience of all time....

mine is still blocked (was "produced" on 7/10) with no other information than that, as of today (sales agent just called me)...

This is ridiculous! An entire production chain stopped due to a little camera?
That's not a good way to launch a new model.
Mercedes and Audi appreciate.

I find it hard to believe as well. That's the info that comes from the forum, no specific reason for delay other than "parts shortage" for those cars, including mine, being held.

what I feel pissed off about is that deliveries seem to be flyning, whereas people having their order stuck just have to wait... pity.

In the US, there is a number you can call that supposedly provides more detail. Maybe there is something similar for other countries?

At what stage do you get a VIN number allocated?
I only ordered my X1 at the end of October but presumably the dealer gets it and then calls me?

VIN was sent over to me when I asked for it after they confirmed on the 26th September that the car had been built.

Interestingly, the rear view camera is one of the options I didn't tick. So am still none the wiser.

In the UK the UK customer services can give me no update. The dealers use an MS Dos screen (think 1980's word processing) to update me. For now it shows a revised delivery date of week 46.

I'd be a lot happier with an explaination of where my car is, why its late, and a date I can collect.

For now I must just sit tight and wait........

But I am considering jacking it in and looking at an Evoque instead.....but I may be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.
