Brake pads - which ones?

Can anyone shed some light on which pads I should upgrade to? I have OE brakes and disks and I expect i will need to replace the pads this month.

I have heard much about pagid - are they worth the extra cost?

What about EBC - The website directed me to the red stuff pads?

Does anyone have any experience of the above or any other good pads?

I think id be looking for fast use and very occasional track use. I would want some longevity, not particularily any warm up required or squeeling noises.

Would I be able to use either carbon or ceramic pads?

Many thanks.

I fitted the EBC redstuff pads to my previous car, z4 coupe, and they were brillaint. I spent ages trying to pick a low dust pad that was kind to the discs and worked from cold.

If you search for redstuff you will find 2 lots of posts one saying they are brilliant, the other saying they are crap. The original red pads were bad but they changed the design of them a couple of years ago.

I foud the rebs brilliant, very low dust and they work great when cold and just get better as they get hot. Word of warming for the first 3-400 miles they do squeak but they settle down and are very quiet.

A mates just fitted them to his M3 and is loving them, he's covered about 300 miles and his have now stopped squealing.

Contrary to what the chap above says, and I can't stress this enough, never ever use EBC products!! They are the worst items you could possibly use. They are nothing but over-marketed, boy racer crap. The green stuff pads last around a week, squeal like pigs, shower your car with sparks when you brake hard and, when you foolishly think they can't possibly have worn out already, kill your disks! Redstuff, same story, just awful!

Anything from Mintex or Pagid and you'll not go far wrong!

Oh yeah, the EBC "stuff" doesn't work from cold either! First application, you'll be in the back of what ever happens to be stopping in front of you!

Well I used them up until I bought my coupe about 2 months ago and have no complaints. I covered about 15K miles with them fitted and they were great. And I never went into the back of anything with them...

But like I said if you had the earlier stuff it was shocking. The latest stuff is petty good.

HAve a search on the internet and see what you can find.

I used redstuff on my evo and they were very bad soon as I moved to Ferodo I noticed the difference straight away.

Ones suggested above should be fine, Mintex, Pagid etc are usually decent.
