Many ways to say this...
- It's not the quantity, but the quality that matters. - It's not the size, but the functionality that matters. Last edited by RealStig; 02-04-2014 at 08:36 PM.. |

Agreed! But.......I would suspect the only model worth getting at this point has the comp pack, so you are looking at more like $30-$35K more for the M5.

I can buy a $116k 2014 LOADED under $5k miles for $90k. Can buy nicely equipped 2013's in the low 80"s, sub 10k miles. But it's too much car. Too much body, too much power. |

The M3 will put its power down much better, and out-handle the Merc as always. And 6MT of course. It's an easy choice.

I remember when the E92 M3 came out and the comparo on Top Gear with the C63 AMG and RS4. Jeremy Clarkson was so enthralled with the engine and straight line speed of the Merc, but then it was 5 seconds slower on the track, difficult to control and ate tires for breakfast.
I expect similar results (faster drag, slower track) this go 'round.

It won't bother me. AMG's are nice cars and I have owned MB in the past. But MB and AMG at this time is just not me. It is only a personal preference and I like BMW more. I like Porsche (1st), BMW (2nd) and Audi (3rd), but I am not into the MB product at this time. I also don't want to spend 120k at this time for a 991 S, as I would rather spend 85 to 90k for my daily driver. Hence my M4.

Nope, won't bother me a bit. As others have said, the new C-class doesn't even come close in styling to the F8x. And the hp is more than enough for me.

I want a car that has handling and balance as the priority over power. Power is important, but only if the chassis can harness and control it.

No manual transmission in the Mercedes or Lexus = no care
And then on top of that, BMW manages a pretty respectable weight loss for this generation of the M3/4.. so my decision is going to be pretty easy. |

BMW is going out of the gate with a tuned 335i and an ECU more locked down than Fort Knox. The competition is strong. They shouldn't even sell this car in the US without a "competition package" or whatever makes a BMW fast.

Good heavens. It looks like you're getting every option/package available plus a custom paint job to be in that price range.

Do you know how stupid your post sounds? 0-62 in 3.9 seconds is slow now vs a v8 twin turbo c63 amg that will do it in 4.5? Just like the same tuned 335i beats the almighty e92x by more than 10 seconds on the track? Do you know how long 10 seconds is? 1-2 oh forget it why even waste my time on stupidity.

I am not a committed buyer but answered anyway with a "No". But, if I decide not to buy an F8x, it will be because I bought a car with better acceleration.
I think that in the real world there will be a fair number of folks bothered if a competitor beats the F8x in magazine reviews. Even more so if it happens more than once or twice. Note that I am not saying I believe that will happen. |

Justify it however it suits your ego. I, for one, am very happy that there is one less uninformed person who is considering this car. Thank you.

I hear ya. I love to go out and test drive as many cars as I can, but BMW just fits all of the qualities that I look for. I especially love that I can change the stereotype of BMW owners in general. I always do my best to be courteous. It doesn't always work, especially on here lately. I have seen more and more members start shit for no reason at all. It is despicable. Grow up or get the hell out of here.
