Ordered F48, xDrive 20i, thoughts on specs and winter performance
Hi guys, my first post here, and have just ordered my X1 20i xDrive, happy as ever
Already have a F31, and very happy about that. But is only rear wheel drive, and get's kind of scary during winter up here in Norway. Anybody have any experience with the F48 xDrive with winter, snow and ice? How is the xDrive? Anyway, here is the specs that I've ordered: Could go for the 25i xDrive, but the prizes here in Norway are crazy, like 9.000 USD more for the 25i than the 20i, so ended up with a price of 90.000 USD with this following spec. Any thoughts about it? * F48 X1 xDrive20i * Mineral Grey Metallic * Black Dakota Leather seats * M Sport package ** Dynamic Damper Control ** Aluminium roof rails ** Exterior line aluminium satinated ** Sport seats ** Int.trim finishers Alu, fin.brushed lengthwise, highlight trim fin. Pearl Chrome ** M Sport steering wheel ** M Aerodynamic package * Model M Sport ** Park distance Control front and back ** Light package ** LED light ** Driving assistant plus * ConnectedDrive Package ** ConnectedDrive services ** RTTI ** Remote Services ** Navigation Plus * Function Package ** Folding mirrors ** Automatic tailgate operation ** Comfort Access ** Rear view camera * 100 Year Edition ** Warmed steering wheel ** Automatically blended mirrors ** Adjustable backseats ** DAB+ * Heated seats * Extra large fuel tank * Towbar * Alarm * Removed modelname and linename * Panoramic sunroof * Sun protection glass * Traffic jam assistant * HUD * Harman Kardon HiFi * 100.000km service * 17" 564 kit winter tyres * 18" 570M summer tyres * All weather mat for the trunk * All weather floor mat Delivery beginning of december. Would really appreciate if anybody would share their winter experience with the car Thanks! |

Not that I experience anything daily here in Australia's winter as you do, but I did recently go to New Zealand for an Alpine Snow and Ice xDrive Experience, where we drove a variety of xDrive cars on snow and ice tracks. This includes the X1-6 (inc X5M and X6M!) F30 xDrive wagons and a 7 series xDrive.
They're all very good but I was most amazed by the difference proper winter tyres made. BMW fitted Bridgestone snow/ice tyres to all models, and I was very impressed. The X1 was very good, but not quite as balanced as the X3/4/5, I thought. But we were doing "spirited" driving, and it was the power of these that impressed more than straight out grip. My 2 cents

Hi and thanks for sharing your experience!
Lucky you that could test X5M and X6M! Bet that was something you will remember a long time. Think BMW delivers Nokian Hakkapeliitta winter tyres to their cars here in Norway, and based on my experience with the F31 rear wheel drive, with the same Nokian tyres, I get a little sceptical :P |

Awesome! Thanks for sharing you're experience! An møring to a farm, so there will be alot of mud there too good to hear it will handle that as well.
By the way, think the UK genius chat will work to get my Norwegian construction status? We don't have this chat on the Norwegian page, and I hate to call the dealer two times a day |
