I have a 2018 X1 with navigation. BMW tells me I do not have the necessary hardware to activate CarPlay. Are they right?

Hi Shawn. Thank you so much for your time and help you're putting in here. I recently purchase a Certified 2017 X1 with Business Navigation but no technology package. I would love to be able to add CarPlay. Thanks in advance for your help!

You have older ENTRYNAV (ROUTE) Head Unit. CarPlay not possible. Need newer ENTRYNAV2 (WAY) Head Unit.

A 2016 would require a Head Unit retrofit.
