Coding the rain sensor
I was reviewing the BimmerCode supported settings and spotted this in the Lighting section.
Is this a new addition? Has anyone tried it? Can it fix the super-twitchy wiper behavior? Rain-light-sensor sensitivity The sensitivity of the rain-light-sensor that affects the automatic wiper and light activation. Good question. "Default" seems like it would map to "Normal", eh? But it's a separate value.
I have mine set to Insensitive for now, and I'm hoping for a rainy day. Last edited by //TMT; 06-02-2020 at 07:39 PM.. |

Insensitive rocks! We have a light rain this evening, perfect conditions for the test.
On the second dial click it does a single, occasional wipe. On the third click, it wipes earlier, and repeatedly, but none of the batshit wipewipewipe like before. I didn't even bother to try one or four clicks. |

Ditto. Just got my bluetooth OBD module today and tried this out in some light rain, MUCH better. Now the speed control actually feels like it works the way I want, especially since I have Aquapel on the windshield and don't need the wipers much usually.
On that note, this was my first experience with Bimmercode and WOW, what a great buy. I no longer need to get in my car, turn off the iDrive warning, turn off auto start/stop, engage sport mode, make sure I have my seatbelt on first so I don't have to hear that annoying warning (always wear a belt, just used to starting the car before I wear it), manually extend the side mirrors, etc. That whole song and dance I did everytime I got in my new car is gone, brilliant.

Bimmercode definitely can make the car so much less... German. Some things still annoy me, but at least most of them can be configured with an app like this. It actually makes me feel I'm driving my car, instead of somebody else's.
