Non HK Stereo - How is it?
I'm so disappointed! The dealer found me the car I'm looking for but without the HK option
So now I have an X2 optioned to 95% of what I want: - Blue - Oyster - Prem Pack - Pan Roof - No Hexagon trim; no HK So now I'm left wondering what's a possible recourse. For those that listen to music regularly, what are your thoughts? Is it okay enough? What are my upgrade options. Thanks! |

The X2 comes with the middle-range "HiFi" system, which perks up very nicely after just swapping the door speakers and adding tweeters. There are even speakers with integrated tweeters. Lots of threads here.

Thats the same color, interior and equipment as mine.
I had the HK on my previous x1. Do not have it on my x2. It't pretty decent. Much better than other non-HK systems I've experienced. Having HK on my x2 would be nice but it's not something that i regret not getting. |

Thanks for the response! I did a search and the results were pretty sparse. Effectively, I am looking to know what others have done to upgrade their non-HK stereos.
I haven't seen any diagrams or technical info...only one really nice guy posting a tutorial on how he added tweeters |

I test drove x2's with and without the HK and the base system was not acceptable for my use and I eliminated cars on the lot that didn't have it, in the end I wound up doing a factory order with the options I wanted and one was HK and I don't think I would have been happy with the mid-range "base system"

I guess it depends on what are you after.
If you want to keep everything as stock, HK probably the best option. Otherwise, if you would like to modify your system or just want to get the best sound as possible, I reckon HiFi option together with "Technic Harness" is the way to go. I have heard a lot of people complaining about HK/Logic7 system is too difficult to upgrade. |
