VIS Carbon Fiber Parts Development (need 20-30)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey everyone,

Like most of you, I have been searching for some carbon fiber exterior parts for my new X2M35i. Currently there are only two companies (AC Schnitzner, 3D Design) that have produced anything and they’re both super expensive. I’ve been reaching out to companies about possible making some and VIS responded to that request. They’re willing to make it if we can get 20-30 people in on it. They require this for the first production output to make sure they don’t lose money and that the want it out there. I’m not sure about you all, but I would love a front lip, side skirts, side mirrors, rear diffuser and a rear hatch spoiler. What do you all think?

Depending on price I’d be in for at least some parts

I thought I saw an article that there were BMW performance parts in UK that were all CF? Assuming it'll trickle down to us then it should be available somewhere. Not sure how much cheaper or nicer it would be from other companies. I might be interested, but pricing etc would always weigh my decisions.. ie I could never swallow paying $1K for a carbon fiber air intake.. just doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm willing to get involved only if they are available here in Aus.
Waiting for more option before I spend my money on that sexy 3ddesign front lip.

Would a group buy of existing parts be cheaper?

I'm assuming 20 - 30 people for a specific item? If that's the case, we should figure out the first item so we can actually gauge interest...
I'd love the front lip, side skirt and rear diffuser, but know that will be cost prohibitive to build the set...so I'd think a stand alone item like the cf mirror covers, grill(s) or hatch spoiler would be a good first item for them to test the waters. Definitely interested though...
* I also think if they make parts that will be compatible with the non M35i X2's that would also open up the market for them.

Mirror caps, grilles, and interior trim would be great. Z4 has same mirrors and x1 same interior.

Hey everyone. Thanks for the feedback. I found a company that is sending me the side mirrors. They arrive today. I’m still in contact with VIS and the other company. They both want to see how much interest we can get. I’ve reached out to them about worldwide shipping and a ball park price for the items. Front lip is the second thing coming out. I’ll keep everyone updated. I created a BMW X2 Owners group on FB if you want to join there. It’s easier to communicate. I’ll keep updating this thread as well. I’ve also asked about the group buy opportunity. Stay tuned!

BMW X2 Owners is the name. Only me in there currently. I wanted one specifically for the X2 since most of them are combined with the X1/X3/X4 etc...
