Hey Guys,
I made a short video on 5 things I 'hate' about the X2... In short I genuinely really like this car but every car has negatives... |

Regarding the 20" wheels, they are optional and you ordered them. Also, they have RFT tires, which are harsh as compared to non-RFT. It shouldn't be a surprise that the tires are harsh.
Regarding the size of the boot, again, you chose an X2 over an X1. The size of the boot shouldn't be a surprise. I agree with your comment about using your foot to open the rear hatch. It's flakey. I rarely use it. I also have noticed that the rear camera gets dirty and/or gets foggy. I always wipe it off with my finger in the morning before I drive away. |

I was doing some work underneath the car a while back and noticed that the area you want to be kicking to open the rear hatch is between the license plate would be (north american plates). The area where it always went off was appx 4-6 inches in from the last part of the plastic bumper and appx 2-3 inches below the muffler.
My wife and I use it exclusively and rarely ever have the need to hit the push to close/open buttons. I know that they usually mount the sensors in the bumper so next time you wash your car try giving the dark trim area a wipe to see if that helps get consistency for using the hands free tail gate option |

Blimey, he was really scraping the bottom of the barrel. He completely missed how bad the false boot floor is.
I noticed from the reg. that he was driving one of the press cars. The ride on the 20" wheels has been considerably improved since. The second of my two test drives was in one of these ex-press cars and I also found it bad. Thankfully, the first one was in a production car, and was excellent, as is my own car. The current diesel unit is also way better now, as BMW added a low-rev turbo and other refinements

I borrowed a 2.0si (petrol fwd) recently from the dealer. I did find the 'kick' to release the tailgate very, very hard to get working everytime...

The one I'm keen on is a June 2018 20d M sport (UK) on 20's so is this likely to be a production car that has been adjusted to ride better with the better engine too? Is there anyway of telling visually and did you find the difference between your car/production variant and the press car that marginal in ride quality? Sorry for the raft of questions, just keen to get an owners perspective of the drive on 20's and the 20d engine so anything you can share is much appreciated. |
