You have to code it.

This can be done from the key fob lock button or the comfort access lock on the door handle. Just hold it for a few seconds and it will fold your mirrors in.

You can code it to activate for a shorter period of time when holding the lock options.

When you open your unlock your doors the side mirrors will then retract back to normal when using this feature.

X1 Auto fold mirrors

I just bought a used 2018 X1 Sport. I've tried holding down the lock button on the fob for a few seconds but cannot get the door mirrors to fold. Are ALL X1 models capable of folding or might I just have a more basic model without this feature? I can't see anything in vehicle settings to enable this. If not auto fold, can I manually fold if necessary? Anyone got any thoughts? Thanks

If you have a button by the mirror controls it should fold your mirrors. If you want it to automatically fold every time you lock the car it needs to be coded. I used BimmerCode

X1 Auto fold mirrors

Thanks for the reply Rounderman. There is no button by the X1 mirror controls, only buttons to adjust each mirror. Hence I'm thinking that maybe that function isn't available on my model (but that seems odd for a BMW)

No, it sounds like you do NOT have power folding mirrors (which is an option).

X1 Auto fold mirrors

Thanks everyone - I think the overall view is that I do not have power folding mirrors as an option on this car, so no amount of Bimmercode is going to make them work!

I don’t think so. If you don’t have the button I am guessing you don’t have power folding mirrors.

You CANNOT Code it if you don’t have the button, because you don’t have the motors inside the mirrors to make it work.
