Tires blown at 6k?
I was riding on a highway 2 days ago, very smooth and no potholes and somehow my vehicle's TMPS kicked in saying that I lost pressure in my tire. I didn't feel like I hit anything, maybe a nail or something, but that usually doesn't case a sudden drop in pressure right?
I got it towed to a BMW and they said it would cost them $470 to get the tire replace.... This sounds like an insane price for 1 tire... Any thoughts? Do you guys think the tire is defective somehow?? |

Ouch!! Might you have 'kerbed' it and caused damage to the sidewall? I did that in the UK once and immediately lost pressure. That was a Bridgestone tyre on an Audi A4 Avant I hadn't owned for very long.

I've had the TPMS activate when I've nudged a wheel stop bollard or the kerb when angle parking, I assume from the momentary increase in tyre pressure.
I've initiated a reset when driving away, and after a few minutes all tyres registered normal pressure. |

So my tires got replace at the dealer today and I just picked up my car.
The original tires that came with the car is the Pirelli P7, but the one that was replaced, they put the Pirelli P-Zero. Is there going to be any issue? Should I go back to the dealer? |

I have seen what it says for a UK spec car, but read what it may say in your handbook as it may differ for other countries. Also, check that the new tyre has the same speed and load markings as the others on your X1. |

For what its worth my car was supplied new (a month ago) with Pirelli P Zero tyres, so must be a BMW approved option. I would suspect it's whatever deal they can do with the tyre manufacturer.

I spoke to BMW about getting it patched but they said that cannot do it and only can replace it. |

cost
The Pirelli tires come with a free road hazard warranty. You should have not been charged for a replacement tire. And mixing P7's with other tires is a no no.

And you certainly can patch run flats. I've had it done twice w/o issue

It was all OK — my tyres were end of life, anyway, so I replaced with a set of non-RFT P7s. Much cheaper, better ride and quieter 👍

The P-Zero is a strait swap for the P7, they are BMW approved, quieter and have better performance.
