Delivery Tomorrow - What should I look for?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com My first post. After 2 months of waiting, my special order X1 arrived and is ready for delivery tomorrow. What should I look for - are there any issues that are popping up? It's my first BMW, I had 3 A4's since 2000 and no car since 2012 (I lived in Boston and Berlin, Germany) USA X1 Black Saphire/Black All options except M-Sport (I wanted the seats, but not the exterior style and the blue strip with aluminum - not my style) Thanks! (PS - I'll post some detailed photos and give some feedback in the next few weeks). Congrats on the car delivery. My dealer is very good so I don't really look at much. They deliver in a special garage place two cars at a time that is well lit. I guess it doesn't hurt to check the paint quality and panel fit if you have a few extra minutes. Enjoy the new ride.

Yeah I'd only really check for damage or signs of damage repair as these are best spotted before you drive away. Everything else should be covered by the warranty...

Check for any body or interior damage. This may happen between production factory (after quality control) and place of delivery.
If you notice anything you just point it out and ask it to be repaired (at their own cost of course). It is important in that sense that you have proper light at the time of check. |

In the USA almost every car I've ever purchased has greasy/dirt smudges on the A-pillar from whoever unloads the car from carrier. If the A-pillar is a lighter color you can easily see it. All that protective wrap on cars and they never protect that. Pisses me off when I see it. Yours is a darker color so you might not be able to see it. Check out some friends cars with white/beige/grey A-pillars.

Get them to show you how to shut the bonnet (hood) - there is a technique to get it to close evenly, although some posters have had problems with alignment.

Hi All-
The delivery went very smooth, other than the fact that you need to accept the email that you get for Connected Drive and the "seat track" covers - both the end-caps and the driver's track cover were a bit lose. I chose the 36-month lease option. I would recommend BMW of Peabody Massachusetts. The team there makes the process hassle free. The car is great - some early thoughts:
I was driving a Q3 the last few weeks so far I feel that the X1 is: Quieter Seats are lower Suspension is much firmer- less lean less wobble Here is one photo, the rest I am putting in my Google Photo gallery More photos: https://goo.gl/photos/xQmTjb4HoqB9T8CGA Last edited by utollwi@gmail.com; 04-24-2016 at 09:50 PM.. Congratulations. I came from Audi (now 2 cars' ago). They're both good marques, just different, is how I'd summarise it. There's more consistency of controls/instruments with BMW, I think -- although Audi/VW have made big improvements in recent years. Also, you'll find there are options to change things like nav displays. Enjoy the journey.

Thnks for sharing the pics. I like especially the 18' wheels.
I'll be wanting those wheels in combination with wintertyres. Wishing you save drivingmiles with your new car. |
