17” Winter set for X1 - a few questions

Our new 2018 X1 is the first car I purchased a winter wheel/tire package for since my 72 Dodge Charger. I am currently putting together a mini-spare kit and pulled the trigger on a set of
225/55R-17 BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK WS80 and 17X8 MONTE TITANO MT8 OVELLA HYPER SIL wheels- mounted and balanced from tirerack.com.

Any opinions on that combo and is there anything special when swapping wheels on an x1 with centering, tps sensors etc.

Thanks
Rich

I know this won't be of much use to USA based X1 (F48) owners but, here in the UK, BMW UK eBay store are currently showing new/unused Winter Wheels and tyres (205/60x17 93H Pirelli Winter Sotto Zero3 tyres) for the F48 at £233.75 each including delivery (£935 for a set of four, compared to usual price £1100). This deal includes a time restricted Black Friday 15% discount.

BMW here is selling
BMW COLD WEATHER 564 WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY for around $1,600.00. I like the wheels but not the run flats.

I had Blizzaks on 17” rims last winter in the North East UK. I thought they were great and were very secure on snow.

I'm running a set of Mini Cosmos Black 17" wheels with 225/55 Conti DWS year round. Don't need the harshness nor do I run @ 9/10's anymore..so the 55 sidewall is perfect. Picked up the set of wheels off Craig's List for $250 with nary a scratch on em!..You do have to run 10mm spaces up front to clear the calipers..but that just improves turn in a tad...but even with $90 for a set of spacers and longer lug bolts...$350 for a set of wheels is hard to beat.
Hope you ordered the wheels with TPMS sensors..a little late to ask about that....if you did..it's a simple push of the I drive to reset the system once you have tires mounted and pressure set correctly. As far as centering goes...Mini uses same center bore as the F48 X1 so no problem. I assume your wheels will either have correct bore or supplier will give you centering rings to properly mount the wheels..

Please note that winter tires from Japan (Japanese legislation) are only winter rubber for the first half, then you are on all season rubber. Just saying.

Carry snow chains as a back up. My tyres on the winter wheels are Pirelli. But I still have snow chains to fit just in case. And there’s a lot of Snow where we are heading off to in February !
