VIN number is not displayed
On the 2019 BMW X1 F48, the VIN number on the display behind the windshield on the right has disappeared (looking outside in the right corner in front of the steering wheel). I coded with Bimmercode exterior mirror and CID LCD display. What happened? Is there a separate encoding to display.
Thanks for your help. Last edited by zeljko2; 05-11-2020 at 09:10 AM.. |

Doesn't it show (from outside) on the left side of the windscreen as you look forward? On my 3/2018 X1 it is just above the wiper blade rest position and is almost vertical in view near the base of the windscreen 'A' pillar.

Are we talking about the vin number etched and seen through the corner of the windscreen?

Hi!
Small display 65x10 mm seen vertically through the corner of the windshield? I’m not 100% sure, but I think there was a digitally printed VIN there, and now it’s blank both when the car is turned off and when it’s running. It is not a sticker with a VIN number. I ask someone to check on their X1 from the 4th month of 2019 to know if my question is justified. |

Just looked at mine and it could be a printed label that has become dislodged somehow. I thought it was something more secure but maybe not.

It could be Bimmercode related. The coding can be glitchy. I coded out DRLs to keep lights off while in power on status at a drive in movie once and I couldn't code it back until I upgraded the Bimmercode software.
Check for Bimmercode software update. If that doesnt help, contact the developers to see if they can help. |

Are we talking about the label in the windscreen or the display on the dash?

Thats where the label with vin should be. Surely must have become detached and dropped down or more sinister been removed.

The car is a year old and I am the first owner.
The menu looks like a display with glass on the top. On the display itself, BMW inscriptions are visible in a few lines when viewed from the side. The only option is for someone who has an x1 from 2019/4 to determine the condition. |

Well shiver me timbers that's pretty cool/weird. For kicks and giggles I just walked to my cars to check them out. One is a '16 X1 and the other is a '19 X2. Both of mine here in the USA has a sticker with the VIN on it. It looks like this sticker also has a hologram/tamper proof piece to it. I'm calling it a sticker because of the appearance, which is certainly not an old school metal stamped plate.
