CarPlay - bug?

Hello everybody

I didn't have the option of "CarPlay" preparation but out of the blue I get the attached. Is there something I can do to get it enabled?

Em thats the small screen, so technically (atleast according to my dealer), you should not be able to use carplay :? I guess it is a bug. Keep us posted tho.

You are correct that some dealers have said a larger screen is needed to get CarPlay (I was told same) however I am informed that in some markets it has been available with smaller screen! Looks like a nice bug to have and begs the question did two bytes re-sync their Apple device and get Carplay?

Yep. In North America, CarPlay is offered with both the 6.5" and 8.8" screens.

Well I spoke with customer service and asked them if I can use CarPlay, and they responded with "CarPlay is still not available as a service in Bulgaria, but will launch in the following few months. As soon as it does, you will be able to purchase it from your ConnectedDrive portal and use it". Then I asked "But does my car hardware support it". Then they asked me for my VIN and replied that I appear to have every required hardware option apart from the large screen, so I won't be able to run CarPlay . Apparently this seems untrue, so I am confused . I guess I'll have to wait and see when CarPlay launches.

Interestingly, I was able to see exactly the same screen on my iDrive 6 today when my iPhone Xr was connected via usb cable. It only shows when the ignition is on, so I wonder what is really happening as I’m in the UK!

If this is a bug then is a weird one. I have tried disconnecting etc but with no success.

About the ConnectedDrive portal that was mentioned earlier. Where do you find this?

In the UK its a link from the BMW website ‘Owners’ section and then going into BMW Connected. After logging to the site the range of Connected Drive facilities/services should be available to view etc.

Interestingly, I've just looked at the BMW UK site and it appears to have received a 'makeover', so will have to see what may have changed.
