BMW Longlife-01, SAE 5W-30 P/N: 83212466454
Quote:
Did anyone in the US or Canada have used " BMW Longlife-01, SAE 5W-30 P/N: 83212466454" in the 2016-on BMW X1 (F48) for oil change fill? Would it negatively impact engine life or void the warrantee? I have evidence that indicated that the usage of BMW LL-01 is good but for some reason, no dealers or even BMW Canada would give me a straight answer. My evidence: 1. The X1 manual on page 201 shows viscosity grade of SAE 5W30, 5W20, 0W-20 are both in the ok list. Standards such as BMW Longlife-01, Longlife-01 FE+, Longlife-14 FE+ are also in the ok list. 2. Tables in this link https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...engine/1PSryV8 (What is newTIS.info and can we trust it 100%?) 3. Actual BMW.ca page: https://www.bmw.ca/en/topics/offers-...0-1000-ml.html However, I also have some counter evidence of NON COMPATIBILITY: 1. Actual reply from BMW Canada "Thank you for your response. As previously advised, BMW Canada recommends the use of BMW-branded Long-Life, Fully Synthetic, High-Performance oil with 0W-20 viscosity for your vehicle. We are unable to provide further recommendations regarding the oil in your vehicle. Please note that we do not have mechanically trained representatives within our corporate office. As such, we may only recommend that you continue to work with your preferred BMW service center for further assistance with determining the best oil recommended for your 2016 BMW X1. If you have any further questions, please contact our Customer Interaction Centre at 1-800-567-2691. Again, thank you for contacting BMW. Sincerely, Margie Burkhammer BMW Canada" 2. If you go shopBMW.com (USA site) and use P/N 83212466454, it would actually show NOT COMPATIBLE with BMW F48. Can someone for sure say 5w30 LL-01 is used in the field? thanks |

For those that prefer to use a 5W-30 motor oil (myself included), I would recommend the Liqui Moly Special Tech oil available at less than $9.00 US / ltr.
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/5w3...ui-moly-lm2248 "Areas of application: Special Tec LL SAE 5W-30 is made for use in all BMW gasoline engines (Longlife-01), including M series with turbocharged engines." |

To OP, if you want to carry spare oil in the car, you cant go wrong with the specs in the manual regardless of the viscosity grade that came from factory. Get a bottle of 0W20 BMW spec oil and you'll be good. |

They're not recommending 0W20 spec. Instead FCP Euro is recommending Liqui Moly's 5W30 SpecialTec oil is what that highlighted portion means.
