Parking Brake

If my X1 engages Park automatically when the ignition is switched off, do I need to engage the parking brake also?

Our X1 engages the parking brake whenever it thinks it needs to (I assume based on whether it's parked on enough of an incline). Otherwise, it can be engaged manually. Generally, I don't bother since the car's logic about when to engage it seems pretty sound. Ours doesn't have the electronic shifter, but I'd be surprised if that makes any difference to how the parking brake works.

I don't bother unless on an incline for belt & braces. An auto isn't going anywhere fast once in park
