Hi a couple of questions, do you have a knocking sound when changing gears. Who diagnosed that there was play in the dog bone bushes. My 2016 20d 49k went into the BM dealer for one of the many EGR mods/software updates and during the “health check” it was diagnosed. They came back with a cost to replace of nearly £800 rediculus. They gave me worse case scenario was that if it wasn’t replaced it could rupture the sump 😨Had a cost to replace at a nearby independent BM specialist £170. I didn’t get them to investigate prior to booking work it turned out that there was play but could have been driven in there opinion for another 10k plus. So my advice would be seek a second opinion and proceed with caution.
My experience is BMW tolerances are very subjective, but if you have a knocking sound when changing gear get it checked out.
