E90 shaking at idle...
I have noticed while warm ups whole car seems to be shaking at regular intervals. It only does that on warm ups and it feels like someone is shaking the whole car. Having gone thru 5 japanese cars I never had this feeling before. Is it normal, like american cars shaking at idle?

Mine does it too. The dealer claims it's normal. I've never had any BMW do this, not even my very used old E30 318i. My last 3-liter BMW was the X, and it never did that at all--even with 45k on the clock.

I don't think it's normal. I drive a diesel which is a naturally shakey car and my car is solid as a rock, even when ice cold.
I've never heard of a BMW shaking when cold (apart from ones made 10+ years ago) |

Mine shakes a bit too...
This has been the case with some of the recent BMWs. Both my E66 745Li has really bad idle problems, even after many attempts to correct and a gazillion software updates! |

everyone should have this problem, more less it is not a problem. it's completely normal imo. the e46 or e30 wont do it because there either not using the 6 speed tranny or they dont have the kind of software bmw is using now. i figure its normal because my dads 645, x5 4.8is, x5 4.4i all do it only when it has been sitting overnight. plus, they all have a 6 speed transmission and have the newest software available to their models. the symptoms are that the rpms bounce up and down and the car shakes untill its pretty much warmed up. not completely sure though, its what i assume. any other thoughts?

Could it perhaps be something with the US software?
I am going to look very carefully tomorrow at my car and see. Any one outside the US experiencing this? |

I saw your post before I started my day. I actually noticed that the car was very still after start up since I took delivery last Saturday. I have not experienced this problem at all but made doubly sure to check it out this morning.
No shakes at all. Very quiet and ready to go. I never experienced this with either my old e36 and e46. I expect that you too should not have to put up with it either. It seems that the US software update next month is supposedly going to address a very large number if issues. I certainly hope that it does because there seems to be quite a few issues to be dealt with. I hope that you guys find the cause of the problem quickly.

I also noticed that when I start the car, the idling is irregular and the car does feel like that it is shaky. I wonder if the issue is with my car or everyone who has e90.

Same problem in Canada too! Only happened once so far, at about 950kms. Thought it was odd, but it seemed to sort itself out and hasn't repeated itself since.
Anyone else in Canada have the shakes?... |

Yes, mine was built in Factory "N" in May 2005.
Must be the "N" factor
