Question Help choosing wheel spacers for X1 (F48)

Hi guys, how are you?

I recently purchased lowered springs from Eibach and I'm looking to add some wheel spacers to complement the look of my 2017 X1 M-Sport sDrive, with stock 18" wheels (7.5Jx18 ET51, 225/50 tyres).

Searching the forum, I found this post: https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1410686&page=3

I saw that some of you guys are running 13mm or 15mm spacers (square setup to avoid understeer), but from my measurements it doesn't look right.

I measured 19mm from the outside of fender to the tyre; then I measured 14mm for the fender lip. Considering those numbers, I don't have much room to fit a spacer (please see attachments). What am I doing wrong?

Anyway, I'm asking for your experience guys. Any trouble with 13mm or 15mm spacers? Any rubbing with the fenders? Any problem when the X1 is loaded or when the suspension is compressed, e.g. with a road bump?

Thanks in advance!

I quickly went through the thread you posted and I think I saw one post who had spacers and was lowered but on different wheels so it wouldn't be an apples to apples comparison.

I'd say get 13s to be safe.

You can always get 13 and 15s to try both out, front and back and see if the 15s rub upfront and if so move them to the back and keep the 13s upfront.

I realize it's not ideal but you can sell the ones you don't use and buy a second set of the ones you ultimately use to keep a square setup.

IMO on an x1, I wouldn't be terribly worried about a 2mm difference In spacer size and it affecting understeer that much, it's a front wheel drive SUV, anyone driving it like it's a race car is an idiot.

Agreed. 13mm seems like the best option.

Thanks!

It would be awesome to see your setup, thanks!

I'm assuming you don't have any rubbing with 10mm, right?

Additionally, did you have any trouble installing a 10mm spacer? I read that in some cases you need to shave down the lip on the car so the spacer can fit flush on the rotor hat.

Thanks ventjock!

So considering that I have 18" OEM wheels and tyres (18x7.5 ET51, 225/50), I shouldn't have any trouble either with 13mm or 15mm spacers. Right?

Where'd you get your spacers out of curiosity?

Did they come with with bolts as well?

Hey Makis,

Here you have 2 options:

BurgerTuning: https://burgertuning.com/products/g-...=3266040954904

Turner Motorsport: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...olt-kit-125mm/

I'm sharing the links to the 12.5/13 mm option, but both sites offer spacers from 10mm as well. They all come as a kit (i.e. spacers + longer bolts).

But, if you buy 2 sets of the BurgerTuning spacers kit (front + rear), they give you a free wheel pin ($10)

Hi guys, just a quick update.

I just received the 13mm spacers kit (spacers + longer nuts + wheel pin) from BurgerTuning. It looks pretty well made.

Will update once I install them.

Last weekend I finally installed lowered springs from Eibach (https://eibachshop.com/index.php?p25...ings-bmw-x1-x2) and it drops 2.1cm.

Next are some pictures of how it looks with lowered springs and 13mm wheel spacers. Looks much better than stock IMO

Do you have more pics of this setup anywhere on social media? Do you have a pic of it looking directly down at the car to see how flush it is? Would 15-20mm work?

Sorry, I bought new wheels & tires a few months after putting in spacers. But you will be okay with 15mm spacers.
