BMW Driver’s Guide App
Hi
I regularly see questions about how to use a feature in the X1 and almost always the answer is in the manual. There is however a fantastic alternative to getting out the hard copy manual, it is the BMW Driver’s Guide app. The app is an official BMW product, it is available for both iOS and android and can be downloaded from relevant app stores. What is really good about the guide is that it is VIN specific, so the manual is tailored for your exact car options/configuration. The app links directly to BMW systems and can be updated, so a search using the term imprint will even give you the current software version installed in your car. Go ahead, if you don’t already have it, install it. Last edited by MJE60; 03-03-2021 at 06:30 AM.. |

I agree with what you say and find it a very useful quick reference guide. I would, however, mention the text from BMW as per below:
Once the vehicle’s software has been updated, e.g. a Remote Software Upgrade has been performed, the integrated Owner’s Handbook in the vehicle will contain the latest information. The customer needs to actively update the BMW DRIVER’S GUIDE. Please bear in mind that it can take up to 24 hours before the updated information is available. |

Good advice... one of the first things I did after purchase was download the app. It's very useful, particularly the ability to bookmark topics.

Thanks for bringing this to forum members. My dealer gave me the link information on the day of delivery on 30th September 2020.
Here is the link for UK users if they want to know more. https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/topics/owne...guide-app.html It is worth noting that if you have My BMW app already installed on your phone, then it can be accessed from there. Naturally, the My BMW app already has the VIN embedded.

I agree. Used this app from day 1 and is very useful. It is also subject to update.

Just bumping this thread as I still see some forum members asking simple questions which are easily answered within the BMW Drivers Guide.

One very cool feature I found by using the app is that (for those with shift paddles) you can return control of gear shifting to automatic while the car's selector is still in sport mode by holding down the right paddle! |

Really helpful app and actually gives you the exact instructions according to your car's equipment since it is vin associated.
