It's for the x1 or any cars that use the N.A. route map version.

To install:

1) Download compressed file.
2) Unzip/uncompress file.
3) Copy the entire contents from the subfolder NAVDxxxx (not the folder) to the root of a 32gb usb drive fomatted to fat32.
4) Stick the usb drive in the center console and turn on car accessories power.
5) Idrive screen will ask if you want to update to new version and click yes.

This worked for me, Thank you! I have bmw x1 2016 with tech package, has a larger screen. I followed the step mention above and it worked for me. I used FAT32 and copied the contain from the subfolder NAVD but not the main folder.

Is there a newer version of Route? 2020-2 or 2021-1?

2021-1 is the latest. Still haven't found a version (Route Europe West) that works without a FSC-code. So if anyone of you guys..

Going back over the years, you always had to have an FSC code. Even with my X3 going back 8 years a code was required. In those days there were people who would sell a lifetime code over the net.
The lifetime code hack (still needed the car's VIN) was soon negated by BMW who changed each map update software.
You could and still can get FSC Codes and maps for nothing from a website as follows: https://mhhauto.com/ Having said that you now have to pay to join the site, so unless you are keeping the car for any length of time, it is not cost-effective.

I was able to locate 2021-1 WAY north america online, didn't need an fsc code on my '19.

I was having issues with 2020-3 EVO on my '18, it required an FSC code, but the 2020-2 EVO I found updated just fine.

Once I can't update for free, I'll depend more on my phone.

Similar principle to the above applies.

Thanks again.
Try NTFS...it should work...keep us posted.

Bimmer Scene has links to North America WAY 2021-1 maps:

https://www.bimmerscene.com/Thread-N...ica-WAY-2021-1

To see the links, you have to register on the website and reply to the post. I downloaded ~9.5GB and will try installing in 1 or 2 days. I don't know yet if FSC code is required.

Bimmer Scene has links to other maps also.

Will this work on mine? A bit confused on what would work to upgrade maps and add Car Play/Android.

No, you need North America ROUTE versions.

I'll host NA WAY 2021-1

I have a '19 X2 and it didn't require an FSC code.

I have the same thing whatever you posted in the picture (2017 X1 with NBT and 8.8" screen) and upgraded to carplay sometime back. TOTALLY WORTH IT. G-Maps beats BMW-maps hands down.

This is my thread if it helps https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=26565335
Can't go wrong with CarPlay. Google Maps/Waze are the best solution.

I successfully updated to North America WAY 2021-1 maps. It only took 10 minutes using a 32GB USB 3.0 flash drive formatted to FAT32.

No FSC code was required in my 2018 F48, but it may or may not be required for other people. I think it depends on your car more than on the maps themselves.

I suggest that, even if you have iPhone and CarPlay, it does take much time and effort to update the maps in your car. You never know when you may end up without cellular service on a long road trip and it costs some $$ activate CarPlay.

I have Android phone, so CarPlay is not an option for me. I have Sygic Navigation installed from when I drove an older car without navigation. Sygic also stores maps and does not require cellular service.

2016 X1 Map Upgrade

I'm trying to update the 2016-2 Map to the 2020-2 Map, (Both Route) on my Canadian Version 2016 X1 M Sport

I have a 64Gb USB Drive and first time out I formatted it to Fat32
I copied the files (as shown in attachment) over to the formatted 64Gb USB Drive (E.

I inserted the USB into the console USB and pressed start (no brake) to enter accessory mode.

The screen turned on and carried on to normal mode. No action from the USB.

Same process on NTFS formatted 64Gb USB stick

Please let me know the procedure for updating the map.

Did you put all the folders and files to the root of the USB drive?

Some people have posted about problems with different brands of flash drive, different capacities of flash drive, and different drive formats (FAT32 vs NTFS). You can try another combination. So far, I had success with 2 different Kingston 32GB USB 3.0 drives formatted with FAT32.

Here is my procedure:

1. Start the car (running so as not to drain the battery)
2. Unplug my existing USB drive that has my MP3 music
3. Go to the Navigation/Map screen
4. Go to Settings to look up the map version and take a photo of the screen as a Before record
5. Plug in the USB drive that has the new maps
6. Click Start update when the screen pops up after if detects the USB drive
7. Take a leisurely drive while the screen displays the percentage complete (I don't move off the same screen)
8. Click OK when the screen pops up that the update is finished and the Navigation system reboots
9. Go to Settings to look up the map version and take a photo of the screen as an After record
10. Unplug the USB drive with the maps and plug in the USB drive with the music

The procedure may be slightly different for your 2016 X1 and Route maps.

I think you need Route maps. Check the map version in the Navigation Settings.

Bcborn59 in the previous post has a 2016 X1 also.

Yes to the root directory. I will try a 32Gb Adata USB I have and again copy over the files listed in my earlier post, again to the root drive of the USB Stick

Anyone had luck with the latest ROUTE version
