Connect your drive.
Google Maps Logo MyInfo* helps you to reach your destination faster, more conveniently and safely. Search for a business location or a street address from the comfort of your home, office or internet-connected cellular phone or laptop using Google Maps™. With MyInfo, you can then transfer the results and even a personal note to your BMW with a click of your mouse. Once inside the vehicle, the destination will appear under the BMW Assist menu option. You can transfer it to your BMW Navigation system (if so equipped) for immediate route guidance and can call the destination via your Bluetooth® linked phone. At the touch of a menu option, you’re on your way. You can even share MyInfo with your family, friends and colleagues and have them send destinations to you while you’re on the road! *Available on BMW Assist-equipped and activated 2008 and later X6, produced 4/08 and later, and all BMW Assist-equipped and activated 2009 and later models, except X3. If you are driving a BMW Assist-equipped 2008 X6 produced 4/08 or later or any 2009 or later BMW Assist-equipped BMW (except X3) and have a valid BMW Assist subscription, you will be able to send and receive the destination and phone number in your vehicle through MyInfo. _

Perhaps you just need a software upgrade to receive this? My 2008 e93 has this service (in the UK), and it rocks. I'm also aware of 2007 BM's in the UK that have this service working.

The Telematics Control Units that were fitted in MY 2008 M3s are not compatible .... apparently there is a change to the hardware, not just software. Whats more frustrating is ... in the USA owners manual there is a screen shot of BMW Assist features, which include MY INFO listed. Secondly there were reports of 2008 MY M3 owners from Canada being able to receive MY INFO from Google. So ... thanks BMW USA ... again, for making these stupid decisions ! |

I think that all USA 3 Series from 04/08 production got the new GSM TCU replacing the CDMA version, so this MyInfo issue looks to me not a hardware issue at all but either software or a Verizon service contract issue. That Canadian 3 Series are capable of using these features in mid '08 production kind of tells me that this MyInfo feature capability is there in US 3 Series from 03/08, just not turned on.

I bet that the Canadian TCU is the same P/N as the USA TCU from 04/08... Last edited by Technic; 10-05-2008 at 10:04 PM.. Reason: Production date is 04/08 |

Hahaha. How ironic. I had one of those 2004 E46 M3's with the bmw assist TCU with no bluetooth ... had the passkey .... oh what fun that was ;-)
Yea, I tried to find out what the part # was for the TCUs in Canadian built M3's but the guy never came through. See if you can find out Technic :-) BTW ... congrats on the M3. I thought you were going to wait for yours. I haven't being paying attention! |

I found your post about the Assist P/N 84109181276 (GSM, 04/08-on) and looking for any Canadian to check their P/N to no avail. I'm going to try to call a Canadian dealer tomorrow and just ask for their Assist P/N of 04/08-on. |

An interesting, but unnecessary feature that of course is not free.

True, nothing's 'free', although in the UK, this feature comes for 3years 'free' subscription. The Google Maps link up is brilliant and I use it often. However, if I had to pay for it, either annually, or every time I used it, then I probably wouldn't. BMW probably realise that as well, hence thre 3years 'free'.

You don't have to pay extra to use Google My Info. Thats included in your standard BMW Assist subscription. If you want to use Google local search however, then you need the extra BMW Assist convenience plan @ 199/year |
