Hi!

Diging around I see most of wheel replacements 225/50R18 to 245/40R19.

I’ll save some money buying a package 19x9,5” wheels+tires but the tires are 255/45R19.

I know that it’s not optimal but anyone tried that size already?

Concerned about the front wheels when steering.

Edit: considering the FWD, the Beaty of a staggered setup and the size difference, what do you thing about 235/45R19 and 255/40R19? This also not optimal but I think it remains light to steer and low in understeer.

Hi there!

There are several posts showing multiple wheel+tire configurations. Just do a quick search (e.g., this one https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1685028).

I was running 255/40r19 tires with 19x8.5" wheels for a flush look (https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=53).

I don't see any benefit in doing a staggered setup on this platform.

Did you notice any change in steering smoothness?

The staggered is for aesthetic appeal, but also there’s a opportunity to buy bigger rims cheap and it’s staggered.

I’m thinking if steering gets too stiffer with 255/40R19 I could run front 225/45 or even 235/45 and 255/40 rear. The size will be different but, again, it’s FWD.

The steering works great, and the car feels more planted, especially when taking curves.

In my case, I put lowering springs and sport shocks, so yes, the steering got heavier. Of course, it will also depend on the alignment (camber, caster, toe). BMW almost always uses a negative camber, which puts an extra load on the steering wheel.

Going back to the staggered setup, the problem is that you will feel understeer with FWD, especially if steering smoothness concerns you.

If you ask me, I think 245/40r19 on 19x8.5" is the sweet spot for the F48.
