Tires & "Freedom Tire Guys"

So, it's time to replace the Alenza 001s... they have almost 21,000 miles on them and the fronts are bald on the shoulders. (this platform understeers... a lot, and has a good amount of toe-in from the factory)

I have a set of new take-off 001s that I'm having mounted before I switch over to the all-season wheel/tire set. I made an appointment and went in to a tire chain this morning to get it done. They came back with a price of $200. hahahaaa... man. wow. That was about $60 more than I was expecting.

$14 per tire to dismount
$14 per tire to mount
$18 per tire to balance
Tire disposal & tax.

Dang! so, I politely declined. I called FTG - which is a mobile service here in town, and they can come to my house and get it done for $160.

The Appointment is Tuesday, so I'll follow up and let you know how it goes. I'm excited at the possibility of never having to go to a tire store again. hahaha....

Anybody else use and love mobile tire services?

Man, you guys are spoiled! I wish we have those kind of prices here in Northern California.
Just replaced (4) tires on my e93 M3. Total bill was $380 but that included 2 new TPMS.
By the way, the only thing I am concerned with Mobile Tire Sercices is the balance. They will most likely do not have Roadforce Balance. Then again, I don't know how critical it is to have roadforce balance since all my tires/cars get roadforce balanced

Phoenix, we will see about balance. The guy I talked to let me know they can do as good or better than traditional road-force.

He also showed me recent client photos that include ferrari and Mclaren and track-day services for few owners.

I'll accept the risk to see how they do. - will report back here.

Awesome! Definitely let us know the results.
I am super picky when it comes to my wheels and always want to make sure they will be taken care of.

$380, does that price include the tires as well? That's ridiculously overpriced, I'm in southern california and pay $20 per tire

Hahaha...I wish those including the tires. Two rears PS4S were $825 from Tirerack.
I think they charged $40/tire plus (2) TPMS and TPMS service charges. Then the rests wereCalifornia tax and fees

Cali here

Costco is $15 a tire. Rims will take some damage especially if they're large with low profile and run flats.

Great installer in the area runs $50 a tire and your rims will not be damaged.

** Update: I've driven on the tires. Perfection. Joe and Carlos were amazing. They were courteous, kind, clean, on time (They were 10min earlier than scheduled appointment time - but had given me a 30min heads' up). Tires are balanced perfectly, installation was careful and thoughtful. Wheels are in exact same shape as before, and they had their own nylon sleeved socket.

I stood in my driveway for a minute and chatted with them - and it dawned on me how I how relaxed I was - no frustration over walk-ins pushing the appointed time back, no worries of door dings in the over-stuffed parking lot or scratched wheels, and no grease on the door panel. I would pay more for this experience... but I paid the same as the corporate tire store. If you're in Nashville, I would give one of these portable tire outfits a call. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.

PIREP done.

Previous:
Ok - so they guys are finishing up. Nice guys - so chill. I was drinking coffee in flip flops in my own driveway while they changed tires. (can this be real? hahahaha)

Cost - it was different than I remember the quote - invoice says "extreme performance installation", so the price was exactly the same as the chain tire store, but... if they roll good, then I'm happy to pay it (plus tip) for this kind of experience. I'll update once I drive it.
