Looks like yes! From my experience earlier F48 models have WLAN port.

I am in a market for 2nd hand x1 either 2016 or 2017 model year. I would really like to have Carplay however very few come equiped with Pro Nav in my vintage and budget.

1. If I get a 2016 with 6.5 entry Nav is it possible to upgrade to 8.8 pro with Carplay professionally? If so how much am I looking at budget wise?

2. If I get 2017 with new Entrynav (tile screen) I understand it is possible to enable Carplay with a code?

Hi Shawn, I have the latest facelift x1 (2020), with the 8.8 HU (6un). I believe is an entrynav Evo (or entry nav2) with id6. Is it possible to activate CarPlay? I assume I’ll have to add the wifi antenna. The vin number is 5N90235

Probably both will be unable to do CarPlay. Entrynav is not capable of CarPlay. Entrynav2 with WLAN port is.

Hi, I have a 2016 F48 with the 6.5 screen. I would like to find out about installing car play here is the VIN 5F66191. My window sticker identifies an option 6UN Navigation Business. Thanks

VIN is car with older ENTRYNAV (ROUTE) Head Unit. Need newer ENTRYNAV2 (WAY) Head Unit.

MY2018 and newer are Entrynav2.

I thought from mid-2017 models have Entrynav2?

Is it distinguishable by the Title Nav screen without the plastic trim? Sorry this is important feature helping inform my purchase, there used to be a site where I can look up the VIN by registration plate through mini-bmw site unfortunately that does not work.

Like many on here, only one snag and that is carplay is not installed. BMW says it can't be done even with a subscription.
Looking on here and it seems there maybe a work around.
Checked my maps and the all important 'WAY' is on there (from previous posts).
If anyone can help and tell me how it can be done, I'm all ears.
