Yes $160 plus shipping sounds really awesome.. I went to look for the pipe as well I do recall someone else having something on the X1 forums... Edit: I just went to look and it was the ER Racewerks downpipe which is.. very pretty, but I don't want to take out my front cat and deal with codes right now...

EWG wires installation
Installation of EWG wires on X1 X2 is not so complicated, after removing the right front wheel and plastic fairing, the EWG is quite easy to access. EWG is above BOW - see pictures. There is no need to remove anything other than the plastic engine noise cover in the engine compartment. The last image is a view of the firewall in the engine compartment

For x2 it’s a different part number for some reason.

Oh I can't wait to hear about that midpipe!
I did a custom map 6 before with Terry.. Nothing special, all default map 6 settings that you should verify on the website (sorry don't have link handy). All I did was add less boost at the beginning, +1 All across the board. This was before we all figured out that it was the general boost limit (and my intake) that needed to be raised so I could go back to keep 1 or 2. Again... Map 2 for some reason has better throttle response and behavior, as well as the max boost. Even if I could get a little more out of the custom map (which I can't) then I like the daily driving behaviour of map 2. Terry originally wanted me to do the ewg plugs too.. But I suck and couldn't get to the plug from the top. When I changed the tire for winter in did notice the box through the wheel well and I thought about trying it again, but I didn't remove the splash shield and it was still pretty tight and decided it wasn't worth the effort again At this point I'm really interested in that mid pipe ( or to get an front splitter for looks ). We'll see! My front pipe does look exactly like the setup you have on your 2 series.. Just the bends hopefully it's the same... I do want more pics of your install before I pull the trigger! |

Turned DWP back to zero. No more boost spikes but all is still good as t had been for months. I do agree with DWP at 70 the car pulled more but peak boost was higher and hit 30.5 via my AEM gauge and no fail safe kicked in. Now I am back to predictable. Staying with latest firmware though.

IAT temps below 110 don't bother me. No meth needed for that. Saw a peek of 4 timing when it spiked to 28.20 psi. AFR strong at 14.5 the whole time. These cars desperately need a downpipe. |

OK. For the hell of it, I put MAP 1 into my JB4 down from MAP 2. Had my family in the car. Drove on the highway. And the weird thing was that in MAP 1, the car 'appeared' to drive 'as well if not better' than MAP 2. Meaning, well, I couldn't punch it due to traffic to see what my max vs. settled boost was via my AEM gauge, but when I was 'on it' a bit, I'm thinking it just 'drove better or smoother'. I think it was only down 1 PSI like 25.2 vs 26.5 in MAP 2. Nonetheless, leaving it in MAP 1 so when I personally myself drive the car, I'll make my mind up to see what was what. It was 50 degrees out. Word.
